I know everbody has a opinon and this is probaly been asked but I am looking for a carry pistol that is light safe and easy to get out of pocket looking at ruger lcp also keltec but am open to other suggestions and pros and cons thanks:)

LCP is a good choice. Also an airweight 38 snubbie would be great...especially one that is hammer less or has a shrouded hammer.

Whatever you choose, please use it with a pocket holster...not just for safety but also for cleanliness.

Weight is very important with pocket carry.
The Keltec P3AT weighs less than the Ruger copy. The Keltec P32 is even lighter and flatter.
A pocket holster can help keep the pistol properly oriented in the pocket, but is not necessary with a double-action auto. Should you choose to pocket carry without a holster- never EVER put anything else in the pocket with the gun.

The LCP is a great choice. Perfect for your intended use. The Kel-Tec P3at, very similar, and in fact pre-dates the Ruger is another option. What ever you get, keep in mind that it should always be carried in a holster in the pocket, so take the additional size of the holster into consideration. One very good example is the DeSantis Nemesis.

I've got a M&P bodyguard 380 that I adore. It felt a little better in my hand than an LCP and had a few things I liked better than an LCP that I was willing to pay the extra money. I'd say you can't go wrong with the bodyguard or LCP, I got my girlfriend the LCP so I trust either.

Ruger LCP

In this Hunter holster in my front right pocket.

I used this setup when I have to wear formal wear and my regular EDC wont work well.

Will fit in any slacks or pants, looks like you have a 5.5inch phone in your pocket. No one is the wiser at all with how much crap we put in our pockets these days.

Both the LCP and the Bodyguard 380 are fine. I like my LCP more then my Bodyguard overall but both are good. They are not true pocket guns but have you looked at the single stack 9's or small revolvers like j frame or LCR? They are not as small but pack more punch and in my opinion much easier to aim.

Whatever will fit in your pocket.

Snubby revolvers are good for pocket carry.

All good replies but I find I can carry a fairly large pistols in my front strong side pocket. I carry an XDS 45 acp all the time, in a DeSantis Nemesis holster. I also carry it in an IWB King Tuck as well but prefer the pocket carry option. I know many folks will say I'm nuts but for me I like it. By the way I'm 6'1" and about 240 pounds. I have carried a LC9S but the XDS isn't that much bigger or heavier. I also carry a spare magazine or two as well but in a separate pocket or carrier.

Ill tell you like everyone else is telling you...you cant go wrong with the LCP. I've NEVER heard anything but good things about the Kel Tec P3AT, aside from the usual crap that "it just seems like its poor quality". In this case, actions speak (and have spoken) louder than words. Keep in mind here Ruger ended up being sued for copying the P3AT with the LCP. Maybe if you like the feel of it or the idea of a safety, look into the S&W Bodyguard.

If you think you can deal with the added width of a cylinder, you MUST consider a snubby revolver. I sometimes pocket carry a 3" SP101 and I'm 5' 10-11" 165 lbs, and I'm not gonna sit here and tell you its totally ideal all the time but its definitely possible plus I love that hunk of steel so to me its worth it.

Some people may be able to contest to this, but IMHO the extra money you may spend *for what it is* on a Kahr P380 or Sig P238 just wouldn't be worth it. The ruger or KelTec or the like will be just as accurate at pocket pistol range and just as reliable as the more expensive counterparts.

Plus at least where I'm from you can get either for under $260 new in the box.

Keep in mind here Ruger ended up being sued for copying the P3AT with the LCP.

Wait... was Ruger ever really sued? I thought that was just a rumor...

I thought the P3AT was a copy of the Grendel, so KelTec never patented it...so Ruger copied it..

Keep in mind the action.

The Ruger LCP is DAO (Double Action Only)

(Someone mentioned a Sig P238) A Sig P238 is SAO (Single Action Only)

A revolver with a hammer is going to be DA/SA

A revolver without a hammer is going to be DAO

I believe Kahrs are DAO as well

LCP Gen2 for me. It is my always gun these days. Often carried with another gun on the waist but it is so easy to put into the pocket and carry it never stays at home.

I have both the P3AT and an LCP. Both are incredibly reliable but honestly, the Ruger is just a better made and nicer feeling pistol. So as for me, I carry my LCP every day.

Another thing to add is that the LCP and I'm going to guess the P3AT based on similarity are at half cock once racked, it's an infinitely easier trigger pull than say my bodyguard. That being said while it's not as smooth I don't find it anymore unmanageable than either of my revolvers (1960s model 36 and 1950s colt police positive special)

The LCP was the best gun purchase I have ever made. It carries in all of my pockets so easily and looks like a wallet in my desantis holster. Its awesome. Check out the Ruger, Keltec, SW Bodyguard, and taurus - they all make a pocket pistol around the same size.

When I got my LCP I couldnt even find the keltec or taurus. The LCP was around $225 so I went with it. I have seen the taurus for $190 at a gun show.
