Pocket Carry Revolver

I have one of those: the Taurus titanium 651. Smooth, snag-free, light and concealable. My favorite pocket carry gun. It weighs 19.3 ounces in my pocket with Butler creek boot grips and five rounds of Speer Gold Dot .38+p 135 grain JHP. Has been 100% reliable since I bought it and has excellent fit and finish. It was manufactured in 2004.

Guys, what's the big deal about wood grips on a pocket carry revolver when, upon drawing, your hand is covering the grip anyway?

I'm assuming you guys like wood because it won't hang up on pocket material here.

I'd think rubber grips would be more comfy for practicing with a snubnose.

When drawing the gun your hand does not cover both sides of the grip. Also, how the cover garment drapes around the gun is dependent upon how tacky the grip materials are. Having your sport coat ride high on the handle when you slide out of the booth in the restaurant is not conducive to good concealment.

The modle 38 is an alloy frame. The modle 49 is basickly the same gun in blued steel. I have both. The 49 is more pleasent to shoot. The 38 more pleasent for poket carry.
Difference is about 4.5 onces if memory serves.

New versions would be the J-magnum framed 638 and 649.

When you sit, the grip of the gun touches a different part of the pocket's interior. After several stand stand sessions, a tacky rubber gripped gun can literally walk out of your pocket (or at least it seems it could, you will readjust it first!).

Just got a crazy deal on a scandium/titanium Smith 337-$350 for the gun, 2 holsters, a speedloader, and some ammo kicked in. Count me in for front pocket carry- a Mika holster is on its way.
