PMC Ammo

PMC

My dad bought a box of PMC .45acp this weekend. The Baby eagle choked at least 10 times on the stuff but that is not saying much, that gun will jam on anything. I went to wal-mart and bought 200 rounds of the 115 grain White box Winchester and shot it all today at the range in my P99 with no problems

Within the last month or so, there was a sign up in the Turner's Sporting Goods near me, advising to return a particular batch of PMC if you had it, as there was either no powder or very little in the cases. Some machine bobble I guess. Unfortuneately for me I had already discovered the defect, had a slug stop in my 9mm barrel:eek: , I gently tapped it out, but didn't use any more of that box, had about 20 rounds left. There were several other rounds that did not fire at all. I won't buy that stuff again, the Winchester stuff works great for my CZ and I have quite a bit of S&B, which also works well for me.
I can see, far off on the horizon, yep, it looks like a reloading machine in my future.;)

Try some Fiocchi. The brass is glass smooth and it seems to be loaded hotter than most factory ammo. I've never heard anything bad about Fiocchi. Seems dependable.

Thairlar,

You didn't mention cleaning the pistol beforehand.

Some pistols can be a bit finicky when it comes to feeding, especially if they are dirty.

Is it new? Was it cleaned and lubed when you started?

Just trying to cover the basics before a component is blamed.

I have used PMC for years and have had absolutely no problems.
I have also noted that PMC seems to be loaded lighter than other brands, not not so much so that reliabilty has suffered. I have also noticed that it is not a particularly clean burning round. Better than some handloads I have done, but not as clean as some others. I think you will notice more smoke and flame, also.
I have a P99 in .40 S&W that exhibits most of the same problems you are having but with all brands of ammo. Mine is brand new and the problems are diminishing, but not fast enough.
Try switching brands and you will know soon enough.

I've used PMC ammo on P99 for some time now. Usually they are range guns. I have never had a P99 jam on me. There was a particular time were I was with a friend and out of a 10 round clip, he has 4 jams..........wierd. I used the same gun, same ammo and never have had that prolem.
