PMC ammo...any good?

I have used a bit of their .223 ammo and it was flawless. Haven't tried any pistol cartridges though.

Yes, good stuff.

I have used 44Rem Mag(rifle), .222\223Rem, .38Spl and 6.5X55mm(rifle all in PMC with no problems and good reloadability.

Buy with confidence ! :)

I bought some of that weight in .40 too. It seemed to be the lightest recoiling of any of the many .40 loads that I've tried. Good way to start out learning in that caliber, if my samples were indicative of the whole. No probs with it, or any of the may boxes of 9mm ball that I've shot. Some people do not like it though, from what I've read. VL

PMC's .380 caliber functioned without any
problems in my American made Walther PPK.

I like their handgun ammo. Cleaner than S&B, dollar cheaper than UMC, and goes bang every time. Feeds good but everything feeds good in my Ruger. :)

Shok

PMC has functioned reliably for me (9mm, .40 S&W and .45 auto). However, it does seem to be dirty, and just makes more of a mess for clean-up later on... As far as muzzle flash, it isn't the smallest, but doesn't seem bad to me...

It is pretty light recoiling, and this is said to have caused some problems in some pistols, where it is on the lower threshold of energy required to cycle the action. That said, I have put around 800 rounds through a Glock 17 and 26 recently, with no problems. It is on the dirty side though, but seems decent enough for target practice.

PMC is an excellent value. I shoot a lot of it, but:

- it's relatively dirty
- it's underpowered (chrono's 75-100 fps slow)
- it often doesn't lock the slide
- mediocre accuracy in most loads

Back in 1998, there was a whole lot of 9x19 PMC that didn't go bang, but I haven't experienced or heard any reports of that since tne end of '98. I've never had a misfeed with PMC.

I went back and looked at the thread-starting post and noticed it was asking about JHPs. I've never seen any PMC JHPs.

A similarly priced alternative to PMC if you buy in bulk may be found at www.georgia-arms.com. If you don't like their ammo, you're too picky. ;) And they make non-premium JHPs in .40.

JNewell hit the nail on the head. PMC is like a Yugo of ammo. Iworks good for a while then it turns to scrap metal.

Pretty Much Crap

Inaccurate
Cheap components

Better off getting into reloading!

PMC comes in different batches made in different countries.

I like the Korean made...

I don`t like Mexico made...

Latter seems dirtier and lower powered.

IMHO.

I believe current production PMC ammo is made in Boulder City, Nevada. The STARFIRE line is a fine JHP. Have not noticed it being excessively dirty. I have not fired it much at night but did not notice excessive muzzle flash. I carry it on duty.
