Residents of MI find it very difficult to impossible to obtain a permit in most jurisdictions.

When filing / in your opening remarks, pose this question:

"The fundamental question being asked by the plantiff is not, 'Why have I been rejected' but 'Do the State/County authorities, by their consistant rejection of CCW permits, hold the learned and legal opinion that the lives of the people under their jurisdiction are worthless and subject to termination at the whim and will of the violent criminal or government agency?'"

Continue or close with, "The State/County position of denying CCW permits to the law abiding denies them the means, and thereby the ability, to practical defense of life and limb during events of criminal or otherwise unjust violence. This is an untenable position for any agency or person to hold, as it denies the most fundamental right of existence to all but the politically connected..." etc, etc.

Make sure it hits all the press that it appears to be State/County policy to declare human life wortless and you should see some hue and outcry.

And no matter what any of these people in that government might try to call you, the better people in this country will always think highly of you for what you are doing with this case.
 
It also shouldnt be too hard to look up the
court case where ladies in DC sued the PD
over lack of protection.
The judge as you likely know simply stated
'you have no constitutional right to police protection' and I beleive this is in a city under a total gun ban.
Kinda makes you feel like a roach before the shoe comes down doesnt it.

I know this isn't *exactly* on topic, but I'm wondering: how is the push for shall-issue going in Michigan?
 
The push is now a slight nudge once in a while. The problem, a major problem, here in Michigan is the State Police. The director of the MSP is very anti-freedom and as has just about (if not has) told the MSP members of the various gun boards to vote against issuance of CCW permits. That part of the problem would be easy to fix if the Govenor were to boot his leftist a$$ out or tell him to direct the board members to not automaticly vote against issuance of CCW's. Since the Director serves at the will of the Governor, that would be easy to do. John Engler is not really the friend of gun owners, even if he is much better than the statist he replaced.


Ogama County is another place that is "shall issue".

Tell me this isn't nuts! I am a resident of Indiana with a CCW. I can, and do, carry constantly in Michigan. I do so fully legal. What makes me less of a risk than you??

BTW, I have been stopped by your State Police for a traffic stop, informed them that I was armed and spent 10 minutes talking about my HK. Didn't even get a warning.
 
We're pushing for statewide CCW in Michigan. Check out the Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners(MCRGO) at www.mcrgo.org. Macomb County, just north of Detroit(Wayne County) is shall issue. I wonder if the greater decrease in violent crime in Macomb County as compared to the rest of the state has anything to do with the issuing of CCW licenses...

T.G, Good luck! Be assured that even when you "win" your case, should you find some pro-freedom judge to preside over the case, they will appeal and appeal up to the Supream court of the United States so I hope you have the bucks to manage it!

Or you could always move to Vermont! :)
