Please tell me about the Ruger Police Service Six

It's a shame Ruger discontinued such a fine revolver

Nothing wrong with the GP-100, but the six series are worth the effort to locate.

My thinking has been that the GP100 in the rare 38 Special is overkill, while if I actually wanted 38 Special, the Service or Speed Six would be the gun. I have the 357 Security Six, so now I have more interest in a 38 Special, something not overbuilt for the caliber.

To me any smith / ruger in stainless at 350 is a good price to a steal depending on barrel length and condtion.

If you don't want it you will always get your money out. I try and always have a few around, seems there is always someone learning to shoot who could use a good gun priced resoanable....

I wish Ruger would reintroduce the Service/Security/Speed Six revolver line.

I love my GP100 to death, but honestly I think most shooters out there shoot .38 specials in there gun 90% of the time anyway, and frankly the GP series is overbuilt and heavy for what the majority of shooters use them for.

Just recently Smith and Wesson re-launched their Model 66 K-frame .357 magnum, so there is still a market from a full-size .357 revolver that isn't a beefy and heavy as most of the large L-frame style guns on the market.

I'd def by a new Service Six, because I've only seen one in the last couple years worth buying... and the guy had it on display at a gun show and said it was for demonstrating some kind of goofy cleaning product he was trying to sell. :(

Never happen.

The "Six" series guns were losers when it came to making money.

A new release of the same gun would be priced so high nobody would buy it.

The reason Ruger quit making them and went with the GP in the first place was because of cost.

There I like my Interarms Rossi 851, .38 Special, 6 shot, 4" barrel. It is really a poor man's Colt Diamondback, but need make no apologies. That gun occupies a niche, but I wonder how many new guns would actually sell.

Keep in mind that gun is made one way, period...no matrix of options. It has adjustable sights and is scaled to the .38 caliber in bulk and weight. It makes a terrific target gun.
