For those of you showing the AIWB holsters... do you find that you can sit down with these, without the barrel jamming into you?
I've attempted Apendix carry a couple of times (albeit with a holsters that weren't specifically designed for that position) with a short barreled revolver. Seemed great standing , but sitting down with a VERY uncomfortable proposition. Love the idea of AIWB, but haven't been able to make it work yet. Are any of these holsters shown comfy when seated?
I carry a G19 daily in the AIWB position.
I started out with a Glock 30 in a Summer Special in 2007 carrying this way after it was recommend in a Suarez International class I took.
At the time I was 5'11 and 240lbs. It took a week or so of wearing the empty gun around the house to get used to this method. First time I ventured out 'in public' was to a 4th of July parade and picnic at our local park, carrying in shorts/t-shirt. No one made me.
I eventually went to the thinner G19/kydex and it was easier (losing around 25 lbs has made it easier still). While not absolutely necessary a purpose-built AIWB holster is better than just any IWB holster.
Comfort? I've worn these various combo's daily for 4 years now. Sometimes driving 4 hours at a time, often having the carry rig on 12+ hrs a day. I have even carried a 17L longslide for short periods of time.
Having a school-aged son, I've played with him, helped coach a baseball team and am around other parents often. I would not feel comfortable carrying a large gun in my previous 4:00 position and trying to hide it while participating in these activities. Matter of fact, I would find it extremely difficult to go back to 4:00 carry.
I find the comfort, speed of draw and concealment everything I've ever wanted. I will say depending on body type, appendix is not for everyone, but it is great for me.
