Please Help Identify This Old Cartridge Case

I have used those in anM-14.They work good with a BA.But,I have to tell you,they are kind of weenie compared to a 30-06 blank in an M-1 or a 1919A6.

Yes,grenade blanks are star crimped,and they were made in 5.56,too.Standard flash hider works on M-16/M-4 to launch.

A rifle grenade parachute flare is pretty good illumination.

I suppose it is possible, but I'll stick with my theory about someone overcharging the case, because of the fact that a dozen or more rounds fired normally, first, and after the BFA blew off, the next half dozen rounds were primer only (I know what that looks and sounds like).

So, I think some bored GI screwed with the ammo. I still have that case, somewhere....

Also, thinking back on it, I can think of two guys in particular who also pulled duty on that gun that would have thought it very funny. And if someone had been hurt they would have thought it even funnier.

No one ever said a word about what happened, there was no official investigation or even questions, but I'm confident in my own mind what caused it, and who...
