Please explain Project Exile??

Arrell, I said convicted violent felons, not convicted stoned felons. The only thing we really seem to disagree on is that I believe that someone who commits a violent crime(not white-collar crime, not victimless drug-use or prostitution crimes, etc.) should not have a firearm and should not vote. Gotta run, later, business calls. John

I was pulling out of Arby's before work this morning and I saw a bus with a Project Exile ad on its side. Below the Project Exile title, it said "Report Illegal Guns." I have also seen the commercials advising Americans to report "illegal guns."

I have a few problems with this marketing tactic or whatever you want to call it. The Fed's involvement in this theoretically sound program is butchering its original intent. The program in Virginia was originally setup to prosecute individuals who commit crimes with firearms. Now people are getting caught up in reporting "illegal guns" to the authorities. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL AVERAGE JOE CITIZEN IN ONE SENTANCE OR LESS WHAT AN ILLEGAL GUN IS!?

I go to the range about once a week with multiple guns and it isn't always possible to conceal my big, ugly, dangerous looking rifle when I'm taking it to the trunk of my car. What if some bozo down the street is driving by and notices the "evil" weapon (used for punching paper only) and decides that it could be an illegal gun. I get reported and someone very unfriendly visits my house for no good reason except some citizen who thinks the liberal agenda is the key to fixing our jacked up nation. And I live in Oklahoma of all places, however, the sheeple are abundant everywhere.

The public perception of guns as evil, dangerous, and ILLEGAL threats to society is being promulgated by these ads. I definitely support the firm prosecution individuals who use firearms while committing violent acts agains my fellow Americans. However, when the American citizenry is hot to trot on the idea of reporting illegal guns, the reporting of any type of gun could be creeping around the corner. Or "roping in ordinary folk" as Jim March stated above.

I know I have been endlessly rambling and I appologize in advance for the lack of coherance in the paragraphs above but that bus gave me and itch to gripe. I suppose I could be just whining over a technicality of Project Exile's advertising. However, while the NRA supports Project Exile, I don't believe they would stand by us if it came time to fight.

FWIW and IMHO
