Please cure my Kimber part II

You left out all this good stuff when you were bashing Glocks over at the other thread. After reading here, now I can better understand why all the pro shooters are using 1911s.

AUG....Better get your facts streight. Kimber makes their own slides and frames. When they went into production of the 1911 they purchased the firm that makes them. They sell slides and frames to Wilson. Do I think that Kimber is as good as a Wilson? Not likely. A Wilson 1911 has much more hand fitting, and testing before the customer gets the gun. But I say again, the slides and frames are the same. Shoot Safe.....CO

My understanding is that Kimber buys the raw forgings somewhere else, at one time I thought it was S&W. Besides the point. I have bought 2 Kimbers and can say that the above critiques are not groundless, Kimbers customer service left a lot to be desired, maybe they've changed. The overall quality and workmanship is pretty good, but the next time you take the slide off of one, take a look at how the disconnector profile aligns with the direction of slide travel. Both of mine were off by a bit too much. I sold one and Had Novak's tune the other which is now a sweetheart. Rik should be along any time now telling us we are all full of it :D
 
I'm back from a busy week. Yes, Skorzensky, I think that was me (except that I never had a feeding problem, just premature slide lock-back), but I had the problem before I joined TFL, so you didn't jinx anything. :)
ATTICUS-BTW, I meant to say that my post was to urge you to keep a paper trail on the happenings, because you may be sorry later if you don't. Yes, Brian will fix it, I wish I'd known Brian when I had the Kimber. Oh well, all of my SA Loadeds have worked great out of the box! :D
 
See my update. I'm not going to jinx myself by gloating, but it is an improvement. I may still send it to Brian when I get a little ahead of the bills. Thanks again.
