Pleasantly surprised: Taurus

I got a pretty good deal on a Taurus Mod 85 a couple of years ago. It's been a good little pistol and easy to conceal.

Don't have any plans on getting rid of it.

SISSY!!!

I HAVE TWO TAURUS pt92's and they certainly aren't sissy either. I may try Glock soon but for now I'm still having fun with my Single-Six and P95 Rugers. and wouldn't get rid of my S&W's for anything but I have more fun with my Colt Mark V Trooper than any of the others. Now I know why i haven't tried Glock, I haven't had the time. I love looking at all the pics on here,Glocks and all. lol:D

Baddarryl:

Taurus guns have been getting a bad rap for years. No I don't own one; however, I must give credit where credit is due. After my retirement form the Marine Corps I sold guns for twenty years. I sold many Taurus pistol and revolvers and I saw many more sold by my co workers. Our returnrate for repair, was on par with the other manufactures. Repair work was fast and professionally done.

I believe there was a time when taurus was partnered with smith&wesson. and the style of the guns made by these two companies during this time, and some today as well look and behave very similar.

My dad has a taurus revolver (dont know which model offhand) .38spl. great gun in asthetics and perfomance. He took the spur off his hammer to help make it snag proof. Trigger was great too.

Under the same corporate umbrella. See Why do Taurus revolvers look like Smith & Wesson? at Taurus Armed. Superficially similar, but they have diverged in the decades since that time.

My mom has decided to sell it so I may look for one.

Tempting. Seriously. Is that a square butt, BTW?

There's a serial number lookup on Taurus' website somewhere, that sometimes works. You might want to find out how old it is.

taurus

Had 2 Taurus. 1 (Mil Pro 145) never ever ran right. 4 trips back to Taurus, still never fed a complete mag. Sold it. My PT 1911, on the other hand, has been flawless. I don't understand, love that 1911 but would never buy another Taurus.
