Plain jane 10/22 or SS Marlin 60?

shucks! :)

Oh well. At least the old Nylon 66 will shoot them. I shoot them "one at a time" in the Marlin 25N but it's bolt action. However, it is a long process.

Thanks for the info.

sks

I have shot both and found:

Ruger 10/22:
1. Lots of aftermarket addons
2. Removable mag is faster to change and allows for faster reloads. Also, MAgs over ten rounds are available.

Marlin 60:
1. Slightly more accurate.
2. Holds more rounds in its basic configuration.

The only things I did not like about the Marlin are the fact that it requires more cleaning and the fact then when putting in the tube spring into the mag, it is really easy for your hand to be in front of the barrel.

I say try both and get whichever you like.

yep

it is really easy for your hand to be in front of the barrel.

i was shooting a lever action tube fed .22 once, and noticed how easy it is to get your hand right in front of the muzzle. the chances of it going off are nil, but man, thats kinda scary.

the reason im asking is i turn 18 in a month (aug 4) and am going to purchase a rifle (.22) for plinking, small game on occasion, etc etc

.22s rule! cheap, fun to shoot, recoil is NOT an issue, either.
im also in the process of buying an SKS from a knifemaker i know.those things rock! ....except after a while,my shoulder gets kinda tender :)

I had a friend that shot a .22 through his hand that way. He said it didn't hurt at all. But I bet he felt stupid!

maurice

you said the chance of the gun going off is nil.............HELL !!! son I have seen people get shot with an UNLOADED gun!!!!get mt drift????never think it can't happen cuz it can and does

mr animal,

i never said it cant happen
i know it happens.

and yes sir, i get your drift. too many people are hurt and killed by negligence everyday. and not just from firearms.

when it comes to guns, i take no chances, and will not tolerate someone doing something that could get someone hurt.

i know the rules.

marlin

There are two Marlin 60 SS guns at my local gunshop---1 for $79, and one for $69---they look to be in good condition, probably around 10 years old---think its worth it to pick up one? It would be my "plinking" gun...
