Pistols You Regret Getting Rid Of

25 years ago a 6" nickeled Model 19 - TT, TH, TG sometimes the trigger didn't return completely and skipped a chamber, or locked up. I loved it but I didn't trust it and sold it off.

Maybe a year or less later I discovered it almost surely had a overshortened/too light trigger return spring. Very quick easy fix had I known.

All of them, S&W .22 kit gun, MDL 65 .357MAG Blackhawk 44mag, 2 series 70 Colt 1911's, even the Jenning .22, a shoot and scoop gun.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

I miss the stainless 4" GP 100 I sold. Only thing that made me sell it was the poor trigger pull, but in reflection I should have gotten the trigger pull reduced and kept the Ruger.

S&W 915...

...not a bad gun for what i paid. Had to sell it for rent. Accurate enough and had a couple of high caps too. Bad move on my part...I was stuck with an old Rossi as my only means of defence...YUK!!!

Back when I was a kid, I had a Colt Diamondback .22 with a 2 1/2" barrel. Really liked that little revolver, but I traded it for a post-64 M70 in .30/06. I've hunted a lot with the latter, but when I see what collectors are paying now for the former...

OOOOHHH!!! Shoulda asked here first! I stood in my local gunshop while Sam, the owner, removed my right-side safety and replaced it with a left side safety in about 5 minutes flat! But maybe Santa will be kind.

As for me, after narrowly avoiding the HUGE mistake of selling the HK, here's my list.

I too had a Taurus that I miss dearly. It was a PT101 in .40. I sold it to buy a Glock 27, which I didn't like (they had just come out, no Pearce grips) so I sold it(don't miss it), and bought the HK! I also had a Walther PPK/S that I sold to help pay for my wife's engagement ring. I miss it sometimes, but boy did that slide bite my hand! Then again, so does my wife... :D

I had an AMT .45 backup once... DON'T MISS IT A BIT! (some guy's probably anchoring his boat in the river with it.)

If I could only get one pistol back, it would be the Taurus, but not at the expense of my HK. I just gotta get a better paying job so I can keep all my guns, and just continue buying more!

I'll learn one day.

Sorry for what will probably be a double posting -- I sometimes screw up in posting bulletin board messages on sites that are new to me.

Onslaught, you are so right. I should have checked here first regarding the HK. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the site at the time I made my regrettable trade. I figure I got fed either BS and well-intentioned misinformation at the dealers I checked about conversion with. Didn't help either that HK doesn't seem to have a good customer support/voicemail system (at least, that's what I was also told). Part of my story was being told HK would not sell the part; that the gun had to be shipped to them to do the work. But your answer makes sense. I originally thought the part might have to just be replaced and would be a relatively simple job. You confirmed that for me. Is there a Smiley for wanting to jump off a bridge (with no bungee cord)? Thanks for the enlightenment. I intend to remember the lesson from this mistake.

Of my handguns, I've only EVER disposed of two - one a Browning .22 semi-auto which I never liked anyway and I sold it. The other was a Ruger P95 which I gave to my son and I missed it so much, I got myself another one and it's just as good a shooter as the first one. I'll never give up another one - long guns either. I think I've become a "Black Hole" for guns - only come in, never leave.

If "the people" in the 1st, 4th, 9th & 10th amendments, means "the people", why do some folks think "the people" in the 2nd amendment means "the state"?

1) Ruger Blackhawk .357- Bought in the '70s, one of my first handguns. I sold it around 1983 because I was so broke I couldn't pay attention.

2) Charter Arms .44 Bulldog - Bought about 1987, sold about 1989. I dunno, I just liked it. Sold for the same reason as above.

Forgive me Lord for I have sinned... I am the biggest FU****G Moron to have ever lived. I traded a Glock 26 with Trijicons and 3 mags and a federal arms ported barrel and a Glock 22 (my first Glock) serial # BLE*** with meps (both were pristine) for a Kimber .45 ACP. Biggest mistake to date for me. That Kimber was a piece of sh!t. I traded it for an Bushmaster AR15 plus an additional 150.00. I love the AR but I am not sure if I can replace those Glocks, especially my first one. OK, repeat after me-----THIS GUY IS AN IDIOT, THIS GUY IS AN IDIOT (ME)!!!! ok, now I will go beat the dog and verbally abuse the wife--Yeah I am pissed about that. Just kidding....kinda

Traded away a matching pair of Smiths. One a 6" 686, the other a 6" 617. Both with identical cantilevered custom scope mounts that were drilled and tapped to the barrel. Both with identical 30mm Tasco ProClass 2x pistol scopes. What the heck was I thinking? Those were two of the finest firearms I've ever owned. I once put 3 shots into 1" at 100yds with the 686. The 617 was an excellent bunny thumper. It was a complicated trade that involved my two Smiths and this guy's Ruger Super Blackhawk "Hunter" and some optics & other stuff. I had to have that SBH, and today it's probably my favorite firearm, I'll never part with it that's fer sure. The Smiths I can replace at any gunshow, but I've never even seen another "Hunter", Ruger quite making them years ago. -- Kernel
