Picking Up My First Hand Gun Today:

Single Six, I think you're right. If hoplophobia is the irrational fear of weapons, then shouldn't its opposite be hoplophilia, an affinity for firearms?

Spats: Good point, and thanks for smacking me upside the head with the obvious! Here in the South, we have several movies that are required viewing. One is "Blazing Saddles". Here again I find myself quoting from it: "Now who can argue with that?" Happy Shooting. :)

Hey Old Man,

I have the s&w 22 also. Excellent choice as many have noted. For my two cents, I think you are on the right track with the Glock. I have owned a sp101 357. It has the feel of a well built gun but it's no fun to shoot in 357 and I had a tough time shooting accurately with it. (as did gun mag reviewers) The Glock is fun to shoot, accurate, higher capacity and will have better resale if you decided to trade it.

Yeah I shot hand guns when I was young but when I bought my first hand gun with my own money I became an addict as well.

Its a fun hobby and you picked a good caliber to learn on!
