Picked up an orphan Bersa last night.

Did an impulse buy last night. I was at Gander Mt while waiting for new eye glasses being made close by. I came across a lightly used Bersa 45 Ultra compact pro. It had original box, 2 mags and a cross breed holster. In this world of poly pistols how could I resist rescuing the alloy framed pistol. $299.59 out the door.
In the research I have done after getting it most reviews on the Bursa's seemed OK. Anyone else have one?

My only Bersa experience is with a .22 that i recently purchased, the pistol has yet to fire a full magazine of ammunition due to malfunctions. I am fairly good at determining firearm failure causes but this one has me stumped. To avoid dealing with the service people i just threw it in the back of the safe and shot my other .22 pistolsof provven reliability. Good luck with yours.

I have both the 9mm and 45 UC guns from Bersa, and I like them them both.
Not the prettiest guns in terms of finish, but very reliable. I have probably fired 1500 rounds in the 9 and maybe 700-800 in the 45 with no malfunctions.

Grips are pretty chunky, but fit my hands well. I think Bersa is one of the better lower-priced lines out there. I'm sure they made some duds, but I think you can find those anywhere.

One thing about Bersas is that they come soaked in cosmoline, and if you don't clean them thoroughly first you will certainly have malfunctions.

For whatever reason, Bersa 22s usually need a higher power 22 ammo to work the action, which means more expensive ammo, which is often contrary to the reason someone is using a 22 versus a more expensive round.

I own a UC Pro in 9mm,,,

I own a UC Pro in 9mm,,,
I've heard it referred to as a "Poor Man's RAMI".

I am well over 1,000 rounds through her,,,
The gun has not had one malfunction.

I will admit I am somewhat of a Bersa fanboy,,,
I've owned a Thunder 380 and a Thunder 22 for years.

I'm not a fanboy because they are pretty,,,
I'm a fanboy because they work.

$299.59 OTD is a great deal,,,
I have no affinity for the .45 ACP round,,,
But at that price I would have bought it myself.

Nice score Peggy Sue.

<y only experience with a Bersa was a used Thunder 280 CC that I purchased used, I put two boxes of cartridges through it - all functioned perfectly. The previous owner had done "trigger work" on it and when it went from DA to SA, the SA trigger pull was waaaaay too light. I bout it to carry CCW so traded it back in where I bought it as I got a number of double shots without even trying. That was that particular gun though and I blame it on the previous owner and his under the tree gunsmithing.

I'd have no problem buying another Bersa at all. Looks like you got a good one with some goodies thrown in! Enjoy it and have fun! :)

Well it is one of the few .22's with a steel slide.

Looks like you got a pretty good deal on that UC45.

Looks like a nice find. I have been looking at a used Bersa BP9 for a little while, now, and I have a feeling it will be following me home soon, unless someone else buys it before I get up enough pocket money.

I had a 9UC for awhile. Liked it very much. Almost 2000 rounds and no malfunctions whatsoever. BEST trigger on a DA/SA pistol I've ever felt.

Alas, I gave up DA/SA guns because I couldn't seem to shoot them consistently. My accuracy would vary a good bit, based on how long between range sessions.

Great price you got for that Bersa. I have 4 Firestorms(same a Bersa with round trigger guards and better sights) 22lr, 380 and 2-9mm. They all shoot flawlessly with whatever ammo I run through them. I just missed out on the 45 on GB this week. You snooze you loose.
Ibmikey- one thing you might check on your 22, the small end of the recoil spring goes on the barrel first and the large end should be aligned with the end of the spring pointed up at 12 o'clock. If it is reversed, the spring binds on the barrel and slide and causes excess drag and ftf.

"Firestorm" is not "Firestar". Firestorm is another brand name Bersas are or have been sold under, with slightly different features.

Rafiring, I have tried everything in the way of ammo, Stingers Velocitators, mini mag, standard velocity and low noise suppressor ammo with the same result-- most will shoot four or five rounds and then failure to feed. Bought reducliously priced second mag which changed nothing. But enough of my problem as i am moving the thread in a different direction than the OP wanted.

My new-used Bersa 45 Ultra compact pro shoots the 45ACP flawlwss ly. this is the Winchester white box too.
IbMike for your 22LR pistol try a different or new magazine? Stick with the CCI Min-Mags.
