Petition to GW Bush

This body of quicksand is not a good place to tread on. Neither party can be trusted in any shape or fashion. You try and get something from one side...only to have them knife you in the back on some other issue. They are dispicable political cretins that all hang on the same teat, regardless of party affiliation. Please don't try to tell me Repubicans are our RKBA saviours. Their voting record seems to disprove that. They are big money boys and girls, and they only care about where the big money comes from. Big biz is the godfather of the Republicans, they have called the shots and always will.
A really good strategy would be for them to do a 180 turn away from big biz and do something for the old people, the sick and homeless, social security, medicare, mentally ill, and most important a health plan that most people can afford to pay for...not some 80 % coverage garbage. Those H&R and Senators have a 100% payed medical plan, guess who pays for most of it. Oh yeah! They don't seem to give a damn how much of tax payers money they spend trying to de throne WJC. Near 50 million dollars. That was a stupid twisted way to try and remove him from office. The tactics were border line corruption with Starr and Tripp & Co. When Republicans start showing they give a damn about the American people, stop giving the BS lip service, then maybe we can trust them to help in the struggle to fight for our gun rights. I don't hear or see any signals that Jr. is waving that flag.
Just because the NRA and others are willing to get in bed with that crowd hasn't convinced me he's the man. Before you cock your pieces at me...I certainly don't want to help Big Algore get elected either. We let these clowns do the choosing for us...and its not working out to our benefit. Anyone got a better idea? I'd like to deep six them both, and start with a fresh party...but it would be only a matter of time before they got corrupted too.

Ah, Coinneach, those principles again ;) .
Don't you know that all is fair in love and war, and this is war?

A bit over 1,000 signatures as of 12:00.

I'll keep working at it.

Just my opinion, but to say we are going to pull our support for the Republican party if he doesn't follow the petition is only going to hurt us. It has been theorized elsehwere that voting for any but Bush is voting for Gore and I agree with that.

Bush has shown in the past that he is pro-gun and it criticized for it constantly by the media. Right now we need to put aside our pride and differences and realize that is Bush isn't elected we are ALL sunk. Gore has already atated he will go after gun rights more fervently than his predecessor.

This election is the turning point for gun ownership. If you vote independent to spite the Republican party you are as much at fault as the Democrats for the gun bans. Bush is the OLY hope for preserving the 2nd ammendment short of a revolution. I understand strong beliefs in the Libertarian party and align with them more than any other, but I also realize the chance of getting an independant elected are slim to none. We divide and the Democrats WILL conquer.

I'm sorry if this ruffles feathers, but I am VERY determined to preserve my 2nd amendment rights. I would prefer to do it by voting for Bush rather than an all out revolution, but if that's what it takes.....

This is my version of a "No Compromise" statement that may upset some peoplke, but I hope you at least think about what I am saying. Once Bush is in office he will be able to appoint the next 7 Supreme Court Justices. With the Emerson case up for Supreme court review it will help to have Bush appointing Justices than having Gore appoint Bill and Hillary (as he has already stated he will do). And don't rely on Clinton being disbarred in Arkansas. This is a man that purjured himsself on national television and got away with it!!

I agree with the petition and feel Bush will respond better to pro-gun initiatives, but to "deadline" him will only get negative reaction. Remember, he is on our side. Ultimatums should be reserved for those not "on the bandwagon".

Hope you all think about this before flaming away, but if you feel you must flame my opinion, feel free. I believe in it and will stand and defend it.....

Greetings Mongoose:

I appreciate your words for our gun rights, and saying Bush is our only hope. I would require that Jr. comes before the media and tells one and all he will totally support the RKBA, that he will do everything humanly possible to remove the recent years bad gun laws. We only have to enforce the ones we already have on the books. Just mouthing a few words to get elected is not enough, he's got to mean it. I don't trust his and other Repubicans past voting records. Too much compromise with the liberals agenda. Anyone else see this, or do we continue to vote with horse blinders on our heads. Mr. Bush give us some worthy action on this issue.

James,

Absolutely!! GeeDub needs to stand up and say it straight. There are no illusions as to Gore's position on gun ownership, it would be nice if GWB would be as clear on his stance. But, he is still a politician after all..... :D

I'm sorry, Mongoose. Just another politician doesn't work for me. I'm sick of the lot of them. It's gotten to be such a sham and a racket for them, power breeds corruption. This applys to both partys. The American people need something better. Too much blood has been spilled to keep this nation free, and our flags red field dripping it more and more. Sort of looks like this is only the beginning for a corrupt founded regime. Unless we have men and women of ethical character to fight against injustice and care for all Americans regardless who they are.

James

James,

Agreed. It was a misplaced joke and I agree it is a corrupt road either way. We all know what REALLY get's laws passed. Special interest groups lining the politicians pockets. This is not the country I swore to defend. I believe in an America that ISN'T for sale. Unfortunately the next step is to "freshen" the red field so to speak. That may be the only way to restore this countr yto what it was meant to be.

I hate to say it, but the only way to stop the vicious cycle is to remind the governement how precarious their positions are. A revolution is inevitable in my opinion. It is the only way to keep the politicians in check and the people in power. This country was founded for the people, not the politicians. For safety sake I hope it does not come to that, but I fear the next "great war" will be inside the borders of the US.....

Triple tap Jim, he practices. :)

When it costs millions to place a person in an office that pays thousands; it seems evident to me that the office holder has no soul, having sold it to obtain the office.

Our choices are scum and scum. Lesser degrees of scum, but scum nevertheless.

A revolution is overdue, would be nice if it were a paper one. Jefferson alluded to that when he said something about the government needing cleansing every few years.

Nearly fifty years ago I raised my hand and swore to uphold the constitution, many times I went in harms way feeling invincable because I knew my cause was just. Slowly, over the years I came to see more and more of the corruption of the Republic. The corruption had already been there, I was just slow to see it.

Our education system has been severely infiltrated and corrupted for over a century. Our glorious Constitution has been basterdized for much longer than that.

Big government is big money. Ethics and morals are a hinderance to the government. When over half of the working population are dependant on the government for their checks, we are in trouble.

Twill take a miracle to straighten out the mess. Would have to vote ALL the professional polititions out of ALL the offices at ALL levels. Would be cool if the reasonably intelligent and fiercely loyal general store owner from anytown USA became president.

Time, WW-2. Yamamoto once said that America was a sleeping giant...then it woke up and raised hell with Japan. Time, today. America is still a sleeping complacent giant...and is about to wake up with a roar.

Hi, Chris. Yes, you did tell me about the petition and I signed it. Petitiononline is a great place, isn't it?

Over 300 signatures since yesterday on the GW
petition. I think there are some active folks at the Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun owners, the last link I sent to yesterday.

Dick

Sorry, I'm not going to let this go unless the thread is locked down.

Just about 2500 signatures as of 6:45 CST, or roughly 200 per day. At that rate, there should be 25,000 to 30,000 by November 1. That's not enough. SAFE in Colorado got, I believe, 64,000 signatures on the petition for a gun show bill.

I'll keep emailing every link I can find, but
most gun owners really disappoint me.

"[Even if there would be] few tears shed if and when the Second Amendment is held to guarantee nothing more than the state National Guard, this would simply show that the Founders were right when they feared that some future generation might wish to abandon liberties that they considered essential, and so sought to protect those liberties in a Bill of Rights. We may tolerate the abridgement of property rights and the elimination of a right to bear arms; but we should not pretend that these are not reductions of rights." -- Justice Scalia 1998
