Pet load for 9mm

I am going to be loading for 9mm to work up a load. I have 231 autocomp and tire group to work with with xteem played 115 grain bullets. What works well for you guys

Fed Small pistol primer,
Sorted cases by headstamp (for consistency only),
4.4 grains of Bullseye
115 grain Winchester hollow base jacketed
Seated to 1.128" length

Works for me (and I'm a terrible pistol shot).

There are as many 9mm loads as there are powders. My standard minor USPSA competition load is a 124 gr HiTek coated bullet over 4.3 grains of TiteGroup at 1.100". However I have loaded anywhere between 3.2 grs to 5.5 grs and from 1.060" to 1.165" depending on bullet shape.

My favorite load for 9 MM is a Remington 124 grain hollow point with 4.6 grains of Win 231 set to 1.10 OAL with a CCI SP primer. Start low and work your way up on the powder load for testing in your gun.

Good luck and stay safe.

To give you the best answer, there are a couple of questions unanswered.
1. What kind of XTreme bullets do you have? (RN, HP, FP, CB)
2. What are you going to use them for? (paper targets, steel targets, home defense)
3. What are you using them in and what barrel length? (difference between a 3" semi & 8" revolver).

I do a lot of target loads (wanting light recoil) with 3.8 gr Titegroup and a 115 gr Berry's RN at 1.13 OAL and get around 925 fps. I can get 1" groups at 15 yds with my PT92 5" barrel.

You can go up to 4.3 gr of Titegroup if you want closer to the 1250 fps suggested max for most.

I'm using 115gr berry's plated RN (.356) with HS6 at 6.1 gr and cci 500 spp. They run well out of the 5 pistols I have tried them in. I use them as range fodder for steel plates.

I wonder if that load will work with 115 fmj's. I have a pound of HS6 just collecting dust

I only load 115 gr RN plated bullets and have used them from about a half dozen manufacturers. The one thing that I don't change is the CCI #500 primers and the COL of 1.130 all with mixed brass.

231/HP-38: 4.6 grs.

Bullseye: 4.3 grs.

Tite Group: 4.0 grs is what I started out with. Going to 4.4 grs in the next week or so.

So far, I like the 231/HP-38 the best. It seems to meter better better than the Bullseye and is slightly more accurate. The Tite Group seems to meter as well and is about as accurate as the Bullseye so far. We'll see how it does with the bump.

The Tite Group is the most economical followed by the Bullseye, HP-38 and 231.

saruger, yes it works well with jacketed bullets. 6.1gr is kind of a light - mid weight charge. Good enough for range fodder.

Thank You! I will load 30 up and try them out. I looked the data up in several of my books last night. It looks like the OAL should be around 1.12 if I remember correct

With the Xtreme bullets, (115gr plated round nose) I've been using Ramshot True Blue. Can't tell the difference between store bought 9mm or my reloads.

I've tried other powders but keep coming back to Unique for my 9mm. 5.5g under a 115g plated bullet (I, too, use Xtreme bullets) is my practice load. Anything between 5.3g to 6.0g works well. I'm shooting some Power Pistol and BE86 loads as well, but Unique just works.

CCI SPP
Mixed brass
Berry's 115 grain RN, copper plated
Titegroup 4.3 grains
OAL 1.12"

Accurate and functions well in all my semiautos.

W231/HP-38 under a 115 is an excellent combination. You'll have to do your own workup; but most usually land in the upper 4 grain neighborhood.
