When he brought it back in country, he registered it (along with several others) via Bravo Alpha Tango Foxtrot.
His most interesting piece he showed me was a pistol he picked up. Old Makarov with the Iraqi National Police symbol on it. As I don't read Farsi, I took his word for it.
BUT, he WAS allowed to purchase and bring back personal weapons. Don't know about many others, as most don't want to talk about it. Which I respect.
