permit after being arrested for assault?

My friend here in NY went through the process recently and got his permit.He had done something stupid as a kid. But each case has to be looked at individually. Get a lawyer.I wonder if an NRA member lawyer would be better ?
 
well i hope i dont have to take the route of getting a lawyer to get a permit.. i think its insane that a citizen of this country cant go buy a firearm. its our damn right to own a fire arm..
 
i agree bluesman.. we shouldnt have to have a permit to own a firearm.. after all the better armed the regular guy is the less likely a criminal is going to mess with someone.. (someone has a great quote in their sig from thomas jefferson on this statement). i wish more states were like vermont.

its all good man. some of my stuff was edited out as well in my original post. rules are rules and the mods have to do what they have to do.. we dont run our message board quite so tight on stuff like that, but everyone does it different. but at least im not the only person who feels certain people need to remember the old saying "if you dont have anything nice to say then dont say anything at all" .. :D
