Pentagonal cylinder?

I think the problem of the longitudinal scuff marks has devalued my Baby Dragoon. However, most of the damage has been due to the rubbing off of the darker grey patina of the metal. I wonder how much of its actual value has dropped

That's why you don't work the action on collector pieces. If it happened after it came into your possession several hundred dollars.
 
Yes, will never do that again. Antique firearms ahould be given a good dose of respect and care, like valuable artwork.

Well it depends. I own/owned a lot of antique firearms but I don't own any collector pieces. I shoot them all. If ammo is not made anymore I will do everything possible to fabricate a few rounds anyway just so I can say I shot it. I don't and wouldn't give the money you gave for that one. Not knocking you for doing it but it would drive me insane to have a gun I couldn't shoot and sooner or later I would no matter how much value it dropped.
