Pearl Grips

No, Patton's pistols had ivory grips; it was he who famously said that pearl grips were for pimps, a statement with which I disagree, owning several antique revolvers with pearl grips.
I believe what he said was, "Only a New Orleans pimp would carry a gun with pearl grips." However, I seem to remember that he did own at least one gun with pearl grips...but the two he strutted around with in WWII were as you say, ivory not pearl.

Renaissance High Powers wouldn't look right in anything but Pearl.

I know nothing on the matter of real vs faux when it comes to pearl and ivory, other than they look really nice on a good BBQ gun. Are the faux stuff any good? Do they look anything like the real deal, in person?

I think real MOP looks better than the faux stuff out today, but I do like the look of some of the faux that is available such as grips from Ajax.

Its hard to beat the real stuff. Just like fake stag, even the best still has something not quite right about it.

There was also the supposed remark by Omar Bradley, who commanded all U.S. ground forces in Europe, 33 divisions when Patton commanded one. The story is that when a reporter asked why he didn't carry a pistol like Patton, Bradley replied, "Son, I have over one million men under my command; if they can't protect me, I don't think one lousy pistol is going to do any good."

True or not, there is a lot of common sense there, the opposite of Patton's showmanship and flamboyance.
