paypal and buying gun related items ?

That said, my brother bought a Mini 14 off of an FFL holder on Gunbroker. He paid with Paypal. If you're surprised by that, imagine how I felt when he told me that.

Macy's don't sell guns or ammo either...

Apples and oranges comparison.

I guess I made too many assumptions in thinking folks would have the common sense to realize the difference between an auction site that allows people all over the nation to sell stuff online coupled with a convenient internet-based means of making payments, and an actual brick and mortar chain of stores that focuses almost exclusively on clothing and stuff for the home.

Nope, raftman, it seems your mistake is in assuming EBay has an obligation to sell you guns. They do not. Neither does Amazon.com. Some places sell guns and others do not. You have to let that sink in a bit I guess.

Sears used to sell guns and ammo. They no longer do. They chose to stop.

EBay does sell gun related stuff and folks can use PayPal to buy it and sell it.

You can choose to dislike EBay (or Meg Whitman) for the reasons it chooses to not sell guns. That's your call. But they are under no obligation to do so.

nipoc, Ebay doesn't sell anything. They act as an agent between sellers and buyers.
Want to start a long, never ending, often rambling, illogical discussion?
Just say the words: Ebay, Pay Pal or WD-40 and you will be off and running.

Please work on your reading skills. At no point did I say eBay was under any obligation to sell guns or gun-related items, allow me to directly quote a post I made earlier in this very thread, this time with emphasis added

Of course whether it's eBay or Dick's Sporting Goods, it is a private business and if they want to adopt an anti-gun stance, it is their right to do so, no one is forcing anyone to shop there.

You are correct rifleman EBay itself does not sell the various products sold there. I was speaking in shorthand and not being all that accurate. They act as a broker and take a cut of the proceeds.

Good going Raftman and I'm glad ya got the point!

Now ain't there something more worthwhile to discuss.

Just bought two Tyler T grips on Ebay with paypal, no problem and all the pending sales of same only accept PP....

I never had a problem BUYING on EBay, the problem comes when SELLING.
If you are selling something they arbitrarily determine to be "High Risk", they wait until after the sale, then PayPal puts a reserve on your account. They're currently holding thousands of my dollars, and it's going to be a fight to get it out of them, or else a looooong wait.

They do this so that they can cover the scams that occur, of which chargebacks are one, but in my case positive feedabck and shipping data confirm the item was received and satisfactory. And I had 100% positive feedback over hundreds of sales. So, no excuse.

Just google EBay PayPal scam and you can even find a link to a genuine EBay forum where there are hundreds of pages discussing this issue.

Yes, I disagree with their politics, and choosing to do business or not with a company is one of the few ways somebody can make a statement these days. Personally, I am done with both of them.

Only problem now is where will I find frog-colored Lazy Ikes???

Paypal drops gun accessories manufacturer

Tried to order a front sight for my Sub 2000 from Red Lion Precision.
I couldn't buy online as I had 2 weeks ago because as of 5-15-12, paypal
would no longer handle purchases for Red Lion due to Paypal's "internal
policy". Also heard BOA stopped doing business with gun parts manufacturer.

Paypal offers a debit card with the Mastercard logo on it that can be linked to a person's Paypal account.
Under Mastercard rules Paypal is obligated to honor any purchase that's made with it.
And the Paypal debit card program also offers a 1% cash back rebate that's credited back to the card holder's Paypal account shortly after the end of each month.
So as long as the outfit accepts major credit cards then there is a way that the funds in a Paypal account can be used to pay for it without there being any gun politics involved at all. :)

I have used Paypal to buy many gun related things from Ebay. This has included holsters, cartridge belts, books, snap caps, ammo boxes and other gear. No problems whatsoever, it's a clean and quick way to do a transaction with no hassles.

if you want horror stories of guns bought via paypal and accounts frozen just look at calguns.net and search PAYPAL
