Pawnshop Revolver Finds

pawn shops

I have just about quit the pawn shops here in our area (NE- Ks) a lot of the prices are close to new on tools & other things besides guns. I used to look in the shops a lot..

A couple of months ago I found a Colt Cobra (2nd gen). 95% finish and locked up tight. Got it for $350 out the door. I was happy with the deal. I stop in every couple of weeks.

I picked up a like new square butt S&W Model 36 with the original box and paperwork for $495 OTD. Not a real great deal, but not horrible either...

I bought a S&W model 13 3" round but a couple of years a go for $275 and a nickel model 19 4" in the box for $300.

Not a great deal but I picked up my S&W model 65 3" round butt today from the shop. Got it for $359.

S&W 10-5 4 inch thin barrel 105$ OTD
Ruger GP100 stainless 6inch short lug looked like it had never been shot, 200$.
S&W 64-4 4 inch heavy barrel 145$.

I missed a pair of S&W M&P 5 screws for 325$ for the pair because I was short on cash.

I stop by that shop about once a month to see what may come around. Revolvers don't move fast around here.

I work in customer service for a large bank and we see things like this all the time with debit/credit cards and checks. Someone comes in to dispute an item that did not make or authorize. They say their grandchild did it but they didn't give them premission. That is fine you can get your $ back but you must press charges. Alot of people get really upset. They act like since it was a family member they should get their $ back without hadling it they same way as any other theft.
Charges were pressed, but not necessary for the return of the firearms.
In a town with a population of just over 2,000, everyone knows everyone else's business. The pawn shop owner was in the wrong, and he knew it (even before he bought them - greedy SOB).

All the pawn shops I've been to don't have prices on there gun's, and are always to busy to help me, even when they are just BSing with some dumb butt asking stipid questions.

But I did get a M37 80s with holster wear for $150 from a guy trying to sell his gun, they would only give him $100, I said under my breath, after they blew him off, what he wanted for it. Hey, they blew him off!

I think he wanted $250, but they blew him off. honestly, i didn't want the gun, but I did a hale marry and asked "How much"?

FYI, I wasn't going to give him any more than $150, but it's, much better than $100.

Ok, burn me at the stake.:D

PS: he carried it in, in a bank bag which is in the piture.

I also just got a used LNIB Red Hawk 5.5 from a gun store for $425 in the same hood, N. Vegas. I think I saved about $100 in true value, nothing special, but I wanted a 44mag for some time.

I guess nobody wants revolver's in the hood.

I hate going into a place that resembles San Quinton. I always get a creepy feeling like the next person coming through the door is going to pull a gun on the attendant.

The other day I called a pawn shop and they said they had a GP100 for $350. I hopped in the rig and went to check it out. The gun looked like it had been used in a rock fight. How could someone treat a gun that way!! I remember every scratch given to my guns: where, when, why, how and the SOB who put it there!

My Evil Pawn Shop Guy

has LNIB Colt Detective Special for $399. I've had my eye on it for awhile.
Plus, he does FFL transfers for $20 if you have a ccw permit, as I do.

S&W model 686 plus (7-shot) in great shape for $430 OTD. They threw in a carrying case and a rifle sling:)

I have a shop I frequent and it has become my primary source. Sometimes they want too much and I will let it ride but once in a while I find a deal. A few months ago I picked up a S&W model 547 RB for $400.00. Last year I found a model 19 2 1/2 inch for $325. I enjoy the local hunt. When you go fishing you don't catch them all. That is why you keep going back.

When I was looking for something to get with my tax money I scoured the local pawnshops for a couple weeks and found only one gun that interested me. The problem was that they were asking more then the listed MSRP on the Smith and Wesson site. Plus it didn't have the box or any of the paperwork. Thank you.. no..
My cousin did buy a Dan Wesson .357 from a pawnshop. It is one of those combos with the multiple barrels. He loves that gun, but he does think he paid a little bit too much for it. Ah well, as long as he likes it. I do have to admit that it does shoot pretty nice.

Thats my pawnshop experience, likely won't bother with them again unless I have tons of time to kill.

Found a Monson, MA Dan Wesson .357, blued, 90% condition, tagged at $300 in a pawnshop here. Cash is king at this place & I could have easily gotten it for $250, OTD. Just didn't have the moolah & it was gone the following week :(

I found a few deals at the local pawn shop:

A couple of Model 19-4's in good to LNIB for $299 each otd.

Model 686-1 LNIB for $399 otd

Colt Det. Spec. good cond. for $329 otd

Colt Lawman III very good cond for $355 otd

A couple of Model 65's good cond. $325 each otd
