Past carry guns of American Cops

I started in 1987. I was issued a Heavy BBL 4" S&W Model 10. We could buy our own .357 Magnum revolver if we wanted to as long as we qualified with it with the Magnum ammo we would carry. We had one choice Winchester 145 Grain Silvertip. The reason? Because they weren't called hollowpoints on the box! I love politics and Police Brass!! We were still required to carry at least 12 rounds of 38 Special Silver tips on our belts somewhere. The therory being if you were with another officer and he needed ammo you could give him some even if he was carring a .38. I purchased a Model 19 for a time but eventually went with a Ruger GP-100 because it just fit my hand better.
In 1989 we were issued Sig 226 9mm's in which we used 124 grain +P+ Hydrashoks We had them about 5 years and then switched to Sig 220's in 45ACP which we used 230 Grain Hydrashoks. I carried that until I retired in 2009.
