ParaOrdnance P16-40 to 10mm

Now for something Totally Different

How about the Springfield Armory Hi Cap 1911's???? Yes, totally different pistol, but have not heard anything about these pistols other than they are available. Forged SA vs. "_____" Para frame. Mag costs are definitely more reasonable with the SA ($35 from the factory online). Any feedback on this pistol???

Jakester,
I'd not worry about the cast Para frame. Metal has come along way since the early cast frames. Capsian frames are cast also and no one is complaining about those.

As far as mag prices, the 10 round Paras are about 35-40 bux.

For my $, I'd go with the Para then the Springfield in a factory wide body pistol. But if you get the SA, a FULL report is NEEDED!

Springfield Armory Wide Body

Have they sold any of these pistols???? I cannot find any reviews on several forums. My new trheads sit out there without a response. Anyone have any input?

Thanks for the Feedback

From this and other shooting forums, it seems that not everyone is happy with the ParaOrdnance pistols. I personally watched a IPSC shooting this a "Race" Para have many problems with his gun at a couple matches. One time he broke an extractor. I believe I will stay away from Para's at this time.

I believe I will be going the route of EAA Witness for a 10mm pistol. The forums are filled with positive comments (except for early model mag followers). One local dealer who was against the Witness confessed that the one customer that had problems with his Witness, returned it and did not have any problems with the replacement pistol. At $319 for a full size in "Wonderfinish", how can I pass it up. He is also getting me extra mags at $23 a piece. Will post my findings on this pistol.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

I'd have to disagree about Paras and folks not liking/having problems them.

Empty barrels make the most noise. A lot of the folks complain on the 1911 forums saying "this needs replaced, that needs replaced" in the Paras and that's why they don't like the Paras. But when these same folks talk about their pet 1911 pistols, "this and that" were replaced in their pet brand pistol, "just to enhance" the pistol! ;) :D

I personally know several Paras (outside of mine) that have digested several thousand rounds with out a nary a hiccup.

Race folks put a lot of rounds through their pistols and parts failure can happen to all pistols regardless of who's name is on the slide.

I do own a Witness in .38 S/9x23 and it is a great value.

Enjoy!

Para P16-40 10mm Conversion Revisited

I appreciate all the feedback from the initial posting. Now.....anyone have any new information or experiences they can share with me (all)? Still haven't purchased a P16-40, but it is still on the "Wish List" and trying to decide where to put it on the priority list.
