Parachuting Behind Enemy Lines?? ... Part II

Having both a Glock 22 and a Kimber .45 I would opt for the Glock without a second thought. My glock has NEVER let me down, unlike the Kimber.. and I can take the Glock apart with my eyes closed.

I'm a loyal 1911 fan but only 50 rounds through is not good enough for me. My CQB is reliable as any pistol out there but it took 700 rounds to break in. You stated the circumstance. If you said take ANY pistol, well, it'd be a different story.

Agreed Jim, the circumstances are far fetched.

Jim, FWIW, Aeroflot's meals are REALLY bad! In fact, I'd say they're more lethal than either the Glock or the 1911.

I second a Beretta, with a few hi-caps. Probably the most reliable handgun out there. I've owned pretty much all of the above with the exception of the Sig, and the Glock 19 and Berettas have been utterly reliable, even under extreme conditions. Though if concealability is an issue, it would definately be the Glock 19. Can't beat either, as far as I'm concerned.

ArmySon:
The cheapest gun I own is a Ruger P95. Needless to say, it's nowhere near the accuracy of a Wilson CQB-nor the price- but could you be more specific about what you mean by "breaking in?"

The action of my $295 Ruger worked much better after 700 rounds, of course, but I hasten to add that it did not jam once, even with reloads, hot rounds and assorted junk. How did the Wilson do?

I've been tempted to buy one but opinions differ as to a "customized mfg ( is that an oxymoron?) 1911." vs the wisdom of taking the Colt to a gunsmith and hoping that in the end they'll skip the 'bells & whistles' and just make the .45 into the ".22 target pistol accuracy" we all crave...

Claemore 70: Concealability is not an issue, and thanks to you and to everybody for responding.

Now let's see, Glocks first, Sigs second, Berettas finally remembered--how are we doing so far?...

Hold on a sec . . .

WHICH 1911 ??? You get a high-strung competition tuned "race gun" and you've got a high strung piece of gear. A race gun needs to be tuned and very clean to function reliably.

On the other hand . . . the Army issue 1911 is so loose it rattles when you walk. You can drag it through mud, blood, slime, grime, and hell -- the thing still shoots. Granted, it's not very accurate, but sufficiently accurate.

Glock is easier to care for, but I don't care for Glocks. (Don't care for large busted women either -- go figure.)

You gonna toss me behind enemy lines in a covert operation, I want a covert gun. Something that the other side has parts for, has ammo for, and that won't draw a lot of suspicion if they happen to search my vehicle at the border. Probably a CZ-52, Tokarov, or maybe a Makarov.
