Para Ordnance Pistols

Thanks for the Continuing Feedback

First, I am guilty of announcing the 40S&W "blow-up" information without really researching it. In my early IPSC days, I watched a guy bllow-up a 45ACP in a Springfield Armory 1911A1. Culprit, double charge from a new reloader who wasn't paying attention. All Reloads are Fully Capable of This! The gun was fine and luckily, the rounds didn't ignite as the hot gases blew out the bottom of the magazine.

Rust on a SS gun: Been there, done that. S&W 1076 10mm, cleaned and stored neatly after every shooting and was shocked to find rust on the frame one day!

I ordered a P16-40 in Blue/Black finish. Could not stomach the additional $200 for adjustable sights and front serrations. Not particularly fond of the forward swept rear sight. Anyone know if Novak or similar fixed sights available to "drop-in" a standard P16/14? Eventually, the gun will end up in open class IPSC competition with optic sights and comp, so the additional $$$ didn't seem like a smart expense.

What does everyone think about the LDA models? Found a hi-cap 45 limited model "on sale" for $684.......good price? Good trigger for shooting? Seems nice in dry firing, but interested about action when shooting strings of rounds????

If your intent is to compete in IPSC with a 1911 style gun then I would suggest that you simply have a gun built by a competent gunsmith or buy either a limited gun from SV or STI. The fit on the Para Limited series leaves much to be desired the triggers sears, etc. The whole package just doesn’t measure up. BTW this isn’t sour grapes, I currently still own a P16, P14 and P13 in the Limited series I purchased them several years ago before I knew better.
By the time you factor in the total cost of the parts and labor you would actually spend less with either one of the aforementioned brands.

while I may not have a ton of rounds personally thru my Para p14, it did have ALOT of rounds thru it from the guy who had it before me . It is still a sweetheart of a shooter and more accurate then I am ( contribute that to the Bar Sto Bll fit by Irv Stone ) . It is not a limited , it was the standard Para that was completly worked over . I guess all that is left of the original gun is the frame and slide . It has BoMars , S/A magwell , ambi safety , front strap checkered , hard chromed lower .

But I was at the shot show and now I have to decide : do I want a Fullsize LDA or the Carry !!.
The setup they had at the shot show was awesome - 2 paras set up with some sort of pneumatic device to cylce the action when that buttery smooth trigger was stroked.....man they are sweet.
My question is : Who has either the new Para Companion or the new Carry ?? Thinking of buying a new one before I take my class at FrontSight

I have two Para-Ordnance pistols, a 7.45 LDA (little over a year old) and my new C6.45 LDA (few weeks old).

The 7.45 has been an outstanding pistol. It is extremely accurate and utterly reliable. The trigger on the LDA has to be experienced to believe. Its even easy to clean! The finish is fine and I have had no problems with it.

The C6.45 has also been an outstanding pistol for the limited time I have had it. It is exceptionally well finished and has no sharp edges. It has proven to be utterly reliable with factory and reloaded jacketed ammo. It did not seem to care much for my lead reloads but it is still almost brand new and this could clear up with a little more shooting. It is also extremely accurate and I found it easy to shoot dispite it's dimunitive size. Sights are very good. And it has the same smooth LDA trigger.

I have had dealings with Para-Ordnance and found them to be very helpful, courteous and fast. I had to send in my 7.45 for repairs (not an issue caused by Para in any way) and I received a personal call from the warranty center when they received it. The gun was fixed the same day and I had it back less than a week after it was sent in.

I like the guns and I like the company.
