There is or was a poster here who communicates with his wife, calling his concealed handgun his "personal defense assistant", or for short, his PDA.

This way, his wife can say, "hey, did you bring your PDA?"

Slick.

I like that! :D

I don't really talk to anyone about carry status. I'm single, so no girlfriend or wife to ask me, I don't usually disclose to my friends that I have one, though I would suspect that several would expect me to. I don't really have any terms for it, since I don't talk about it.

But I think Sevens here has provided me a quick response if someone spots my piece or bumps into it.

"What's that on your belt?" "Oh, nothing. Its just my PDA."

i made one of my buddies on time with an empty belly band, i cracked a joke about it how it doesn't help that with lifting. ever since, if i wanted to know and say hey got a sore back?

Just as an offshoot, I use the term "hog legging" for when my gun is drawn, but hidden from view behind my right leg, such as during an encounter with an unknown subject, where you are at a bladed stance to the subject.

I used to teach police recruits to have their sidearm already out but hidden from view, and that was the technique.

A friend of mine pocket carries.
When asked his wife says "his pockets are full"
A coworker says "I've got my insurance policy with me"

My wife asks if I'm wearing my belt (or tells me to adjust my belt). The logic is thus: in wrestling or other sports, they call the title belt the 'strap.' If I'm strapped, then I have my 'belt' on me.

Now I need to come up with something for when my wife is purse carrying.

I used to have a friend who carried Colt wheelguns all the time. Since so few people do it now, the analogy with Colt "snake" guns sorta gets lost. But his terms were:

Defanged : unarmed
Fanged : armed

He referred to his Detective Special as his "Hawaiian Sniper rifle" (Or McGarrett Sniper Rifle) after watching two Hawaii Five-O episodes where McGarrett snap shoots someone at 50 yards with a 2-inch Det. Special. :D

"Little Dog". As in "Got your little dog with you?" (meaning the one that barks here and bites half a mile down the road.)

"Ya got little brother?" I got that one from someone YEARS ago who said he let "little brother" do the talking for him.
