P320 Upgrade

We shipped my wife's P320 back a couple months ago, turnaround was about 12 days or so. We didn't experience any issues with the pistol before, or after. The trigger pull was slightly lighter, I noticed, but my wife didn't.

Both the Glock and M&P passed the test the P320 was subjected to by the same people.

the question is, did Glock, et al subject their pistols to further drop testing that Sig Sauer did? If not, then the P320 has been tested more. If yes, then my statement would be moot, but that much testing would be a good thing for all.

I’m not sure I consider dropping a pistol at an angle from the typical height “severe”.

Some of the YouTubers were found out to drop the P320 as many as 20 - 30 times at heights to 20 feet and then slamming them with hammers. I would consider that severe, bet you would agree.

Thanks for an interesting conversation!

Good question and I imagine there are some that know. It seems to me that Glock took a rather simplistic and, IMO, smart approach to the issues of drop safety with their use of the trigger tab. Create a part that has to be depressed in order for the trigger to travel completely to the rear. That same part has such little mass that the amount of velocity it would have to gain to have the momentum to depress itself is extreme. SIG's approach, as best as I can tell, was to have a trigger bar that moves forward rather than rearward. Assuming the mass of the trigger bar and trigger are balanced correctly then SIG's design is also drop safe, as we see after the changes. It's interesting that SIG's initial documentation for the P320 showed a tabbed trigger as an option, but I've never seen one nor heard of a department requesting that option. If SIG had gone that route this issue may never have come about.

The Omaha Outdoors test that spurred a lot of the attention was not at such heights. The pistols were also found to discharge at relatively short heights if dropped at the proper angle. I have no doubt that some people went into the realm of bizarre, but from what I saw on YouTube, forums, and Facebook most tried to be relatively realistic about the affair.

Shipped my 320 carry 9 on 12/21.......I got it back today!
I think that is pretty good customer service?????? regardless of your opinion on the issue at hand.
I really didn’t have any concerns about my pre-voluntary recall pistol but free upgrade why not take them up on it.
Looking forward to taking it to the range to give it a run.

I received instructions on how to pack the gun for shipping and how to print the prepaid shipping label.
I got an email from FedEx on January 18 with the shipping label. But nothing from Sig with shipping instructions.
How much time should I expect between the two?

Here is a copy of the shipping instructions I received from SIG by email:

Please pack up the unloaded gun(s) in a case or box and secure it inside another shipping package. The original SIG SAUER pistol case is preferred. If you can't find it call Sig Sauer at the 603-610-3000 and ask them for your RMA form.

Good luck,

Mackie244 / Bud.

I'll go through my emails, trash, and spam folders to look for the one from Sig. Haven't found it yet. If I don't I guess I'll call Sig CS and see what they say.

Cheapshooter,

In my email it was titled: SIG SAUER - Do Not Reply.

So if you highlight your emails "In Box" or "Junk Folder" to populate alphabetically, it will easily show up in the S's...
that way you don't have to worry about finding the exact date that Sig sent the email
Mackie244 / Bud

Never found the email. So I called Sig CS. The rep I talked to was very surprised that I did not get an email from Sig before the one from FedEx. One thing, but it should not have caused not getting the email was they had the abbreviation for my state wrong. But they did have all the other info correct. He gave me instructions for shipping my pistol, and I will take it yo FedEx in the morning.
Forgot to ask, but I assume that the package is insured for loss. Do you get some sort of receipt from FedEx?

K, thanks for the info. Took it to FedEx yesterday. Now my 320 is off yo see the Wizzard, the wonderful Wizzard of Sig. It's now somewhere in Indiana, and supposed to be at Sig Tuesday.
