P32 a piece of junk?

After hearing on the great reviews I decided to order myself a Kel-Tec P-32. I was really disapointed when I finally got it. The thing looks cheaply made. I'm concerned that I've just wasted money on another piece of junk. I guess I'll know for sure after I take it to the range tomorow. Hope it doesn't blow up in my hand.

It shouldnt blow up in your hand. I have one and still have all my fingers, although my typing wont seem like I do. They do look kind of low grade, but they are good guns from what I have heard of them. Make sure you clean and lube it up before you go shooting it. It will save you some time. Also if youre inclined check http://www.ktog.org and look for the F&B under the tech works section. Also well worth the time investment. Good luck

I agree that they aren't much to look at. That's why I like the Guardian and the Tomcat better. They're all pocket-sized pistols in the end. But most people seem to be happy with theirs... who knows, you may fall in love with the thing. It'll certainly end up being the one you carry when you can't carry.

you should take it back to your dealer before you shoot it and see if you can get a refund.
the p-32 is a great gun. your dealer will have no trouble selling it, probably to someone who wants a 2nd one.

That comment about someone buying a second one reminded me of me. I bought my first Kel-tec (a P32) a few months ago. I like it. I bought my second a few weeks ago (a P11). I plan to buy another P32 and a P40 before the end of the year (when they will be banned in California).

I can understand how people might be put off by the plastic, etc. (as many still are by Glocks and other plastic guns), but my Kel-tecs seem reasonably well-made and my P32 works fine. I wish it had real sights and wasn't DAO, but those are minor gripes. I'm very happy with it.

Kel-tec sets the standard when it comes to offering the most firepower (capacity and caliber) in the lightest gun. Kel-tec pistols appeal to two distinct markets: (1) people who want the lightest, smallest gun available in a given caliber, regardless of cost, and (2) people looking for a good defensive pistol at a bargain price. I'm in category #1, although I also appreciate the reasonable price. If Kahr, Taurus, Seecamp, NAA, or other pistols were lighter, I'd probably pay the premium to get one. But to me, "pretty is as pretty does" - I'm not buying jewelry. While I admire and appreciate the other small pistols, the Kel-tec gives me more for less. What more could I ask?

I think you don't appreciate the inovative design of the P-32. The low weight polimer construction with Browing locked breach makes it the lightest & strongest .32 on the market which will fire almost any brand of ammo including +p. It is a fantastic gun. I have over 1000 rounds through mine and it is flawless. The $20 hard chrome option is great! The belt clip makes it the lightest & most concealable semi-auto on the market. The factory customer service is above & beyond anyone else. My gun shop is sold out. How much you want for yours?

I do believe your KT32 is the strongest 32ACP pistol ever put on the market. Our test gun here at the plant has had the bejabbers shot out of it with nary a problem and still looks brand new. Frankly I'm most taken by the KT pistols. Our 9MM and 40 KT pistols have been excellent. The 9MM was so good our VP grabbed it for his own carry pistol. One has to look past their plainjane exterior, can't judge a book by its' cover, can't tell how far a frog is gonna jump till you poke it, can't tel....oh sorry, lost my head here...more caffiene an' nicotine over here QUICK.

I have had some trouble with my P32. It will misfire(or not fire) quite often, like it is not cycling correctly. I've fluffed and buffed a couple of times to no avail, and used different ammo to make sure that was not the cause. I will send back to Keltec soon to get it repaired.

I've put a pile of rounds through my P-32 and it's never misfired. I went for the hard chrome option - I too didn't like the "cheapo" look of the blued slide. The hard chrome is really rust resistant as well, and the contrast with the black grip is more visually appealing. I'll admit, The P-32 isn't as asthetically pleasing as, say, a Seecamp, Beretta, or Guardian - but I'm another "beautiful is as beautiful does" advocate (I also own a Glock). Comapred to the Guardian, the P-32 (1)has less recoil due to the locked breech design, (2)carries one more round, (3)is much lighter and thinner, (4)costs a good bit less, and(5)is less ammo sensitive.

In my dreams, Glock would buy the patents on the P-32 and produce it themselves with all the Glock amenities (tenifer finish, etc). Until then, I'll have to say that I'm pretty darned satisfied with the performance of my little spitwad.

Try it out a bit, and it'll grow on you. Kel-Tec will take care of any probs you have with it.

I have a P-11. I had a friend who bought one, and kept telling me how good it was. I had never been exactly turned on by their appearance, but I went out and bought one. Of course, I examined it in the shop before I bought it, but when I got it home, I took it out to examine it again and, sitting there in the privacy of my own kitchen, I have to admit, I initially had a serious pang of 'oh my, what did I just spend my money on.' The little pistol does look a lot like a toy cap pistol. Then I cleaned it, and took it to the range. I was really pleasantly surprised. I had no malfunctions whatsoever, and I am really pleased with the trigger and accuracy. This ingeniously designed little gun handles and functions like a fine combat auto. The mags drop free just like they should, the trigger is smooth, and it hits where I aim it. Pretty amazing, really, and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. It is also an inherently safe carry gun with its simplicity and double action only trigger. I like the P-11 so much, I am seriously thinking about picking up one of the .40 cal versions. This is the lightest carry gun I have, and it is one that I WILL take with me. It is so much easier to hide than the other HEAVY pistols I have. I never truly gave a lot of credence to the weight factor in concealability until I carried the Kel Tec. [I have a nice little Star model 43, which is a good reliable, accurate pistol, but it is HEAVY, and consequently it is uncomfortable to have hanging on me as well as difficult to hide because of its weight.] I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the little Kel Tecs. I have heard of some people having a few problems with them, but in the cases I hear of, the company fixed those problems quickly and without protest.

Enjoy the pistol. It's a good deal. Be safe.

Tstr,
Well, DID you take it to the range and put a box or two of ammo through it?

If you're still unhappy, I'll buy it.

I have to admit that the P32 isn't much to look at, but the only problem I've had with it is getting it back from my wife once she tried it at the range.

I like mine. It seems to be my always gun.
No problems thus far, but I haven't put a jillion rounds through it. I believe it to be a great little carry gun.

As I've said before, my only gripes with the P32 is the lack of a second-strike capablilty (IMHO a must-have in a tiny DAO) and non-stainless metal parts.

Other than that, everything elst about it is good... I just like my Guardian better.

I looked at the P-32 last weekend before buying the Guardian. It may shoot great but I felt I had to draw the line somewhere on UGLY! I mean I even own Glocks but not the G30! God one can only go SO LOW!

I have two, and they - IMHO - look good. They also work well. The newest has several subtle improvements over the first. The new one eats everything I feed it. It's fit and finish details are vastly improved over my first. And no, unless you have worked with them, you wouldn't notice the improvents, but they are there, and they make a difference.

Kel-Tec stands behind their product. How many manufacturers give you a life time no hassle warranty? Yes, there have been problems with this gun. Beretta has a bunch with their Tom Cat. I own both, I know. I wish I had another P-32 instead of the TK. The trigger action of a TK is the pits, even the replacement one. The P-32 is smooth as glass and the trigger pull is about the same in distance. It's also a feather weight. That's just over 9 oz fully loaded with Fiocchi FMJ's. Having used both, I will be getting another for my daughter. She loves it too.

One other thing. This tiny gun is on the cutting of small gun technology. Look it over closely. It's a neat piece of machinery. Easy to clean. Have over 800 rounds in one. I have tighter groups with my P-32 at 12 yards than my 9mm.

Yep, I love mine. Give it a shot, or several.
