Over & Under .410/.22

[I just inherited my dad's Air Force survival gun.]

Please proceed posting with caution - USAF Survival Gun (22/410) were NEVER sold as surplus AFAIK (aka: stolen), since their barrels are short enough (14", IIRC) that they violate Federal Law for possession by unlicensed civilians.

Remember: Even fish don't get in trouble, IF they keep their mouths SHUT.

i just sold a stevens air force marked 22/410(serial number on reciever,barrel and forend) with teninite stocks in ex condition. was said to be on B-24,s and B-25,s in the late 40,s-early 50,s. but i,m not sure about that. eastbank.

Please Help!

I have a Stevens .22-.410 that belonged to Grandpa. The barrels are ruined and I need to replace them. I have not yet been able to find any that fit...I know it's old, but can't tell how old. It has a heart engraved on the receiver just behind the barrels...what does this mean? Will this help me in finding one that will fit. Anybody got one out there they wish to get rid of?

Stevens Arms Company Model 22-410

I just inherited an old rifle, it has the plastic stock on it. And it also has a patient number on the side. I do not see any serial number on it anywhere. My Father bought this rife new in 1913. I would like to know some info about it. Thanks. Here are a few photos of it.

I sincerely doubt your Father bought that Stevens Model 22-410 in 1913, since the first year they were ever made was 1939 ( I have one from that year with the Tenite stocks).
Savage/Stevens didn't put serial numbers on them until required by the Gun Control Act of 1968, but did stamp date code letters into the bottom of actions and barrels from 1949 to 1970 ( "A" to "X").

After WWII, Savage discontinued the Stevens 22-410, and renamed the gun Savage 24, gradually expanding the chamberings at first to include a .22lr/20ga, then in 1959 to .22MAG/20ga, before the later centerfire rifle chamberings & larger shotgun bbl.

Savage even once made a Model 242 .410/.410 O/U on the same frame.

Over and under 410/22

I bought one this fall, it is all wood, good condition, it was made in the fifties, the value is from 200 to 400 dollars. I paid 200 for it, I liked it and I bought it just to have. I have taken it out hunting and it works and shoots great, would not let go of it for any price.

I also have a stevens model 22 410 with a missing selector button. Now when you turn the gun over the selector seems to work and can shoot a 22 while upside down. Does this mean i only need a selector button?
 
NO. The reason that the selector button is missing is that the selector BREAKS at the 90-degree turn, and the weight of the button & broken-off end together with the fact that there's nothing else holding the button in the receiver, means they both fall out somewhere.
