I won't say who it is, so some of you will certainly be kept on your toes from now on![/quote]

They created a Geheimpolizei to keep order.

I read that to Slowpoke and was relieved to see it. The moderators have cleaned the board up tremendously over the last 36 hours and it sounds as though they plan to become serious in keeping it that way. There have been many members over there compaining including myself. I'm a member there using the user name of Old Gunslinger so I will be recognizable to members from this forum. Frankly I do not particularly enjoy the site and find it merely takes time away that I could be spending here on TFL. However the past couple of weeks I've found myself posting more and more over there in attempts to (diplomatically) inform the members they are doing damge to the RKBA.

We live in a time in which attitudes and deeds once respected as courageous and honorable are now scorned as being antiquated and subversive.

Kevinw & 6forsure: I'm not sure what you mean by "over-moderated" or "stuffy". I do note that our moderators generally do a very good job of keeping folks generally on-thread and on-guns. Further, they do a great job of keeping out the flamers and users of obscenity. You might note that many of us here will also jump in to try--politely, for the most part--to assist the moderators.

As far as I'm concerned, this Site is for people with a mature attitude toward guns, politics, and lifeitsownself. It is not intended for those who are obscene in their comments, who flame, or who make threats.

I note that on the Internet, as in many other areas of our society, those who make anonymous threats or who use inflammatory language behind somebody's back are those who are too cowardly to stand up in front of people and say the same things. And obscenity is the last refuge of the intellectually incompetent.

To that sort of person, I say only, "I hope that when you get home this evening, I hope your mother comes out from under the porch and bites you."

There was time when reflexive mature behavior was regarded as a desireable goal. It meant that one had put away childish ways; it was considered honorable, not "stuffy". I note that this state was not easy to achieve--and in today's world it seems to be almost impossible.

But for anybody who thinks there is an excess of juveniles at AR-15, I suggest you never, ever go to Deja Guns: That's a nursery school of obscenity.

I quit reading rec.guns, it was to much of a mess and AR15.com is getting there. I do think that this board needs to lighten up a little. I know a couple of the moderators and think they do I good job. But when I recive an email from another that tells me to go away and that I am not welcome, well that has left a bad taste in my mouth. I am outspoken. And I do (at times) feel that that is not acceptable now. Please don't flame me for this but I feel that this site can be to liberal at times. Not often but at times it shows through. Now AR15 is the exact oposite. They are trying to fix that but it will take time. Go back and search from a few months ago. Look at what it used to be like. It was not the reched(sp) hive of scum and villany it is now.

Take my post the other day about my ND. Here I have not recived one flame. And on AR I have only recived one or two. Yes there are some. But overall the people are good. The problem is this. You only think about and remember the loud Annoying people. If I remember correctly AR15 and TFL have about the same number of people. The difference is that the bad ones know they can get away with it over there. Here we are kept on a tight leash.

Look at the Moderators there. AntiUSSA, Kupier, DonR. they are trying. Sameshot and a few of the other members that have been around a while are trying. But all people hear are the pains in the ass.

I will be the first to admit that at times, I say things before thinking. At times, those comments may hurt other people's feelings. I do appreciate the moderators keeping me in line. HOWEVER, there were times I have received emails about certain posts and did not think they were out of line. Overall, I like this board a lot. There's a wealth of information here. No board is perfect. I do think that this place is a bit on the "stiff" end. I no longer come here to meet aquaintances or friends. Just for sharing info and receiving info. It all depends on what you want. If you don't like the way a certain board is ran, don't go to it. Simple as that.

Someone hang this up on the south wall. :) My only regret is that I didn't author it!.

First thanks for the compliments on the technical forums in AR15.com. As far as our problem child General Discussion, it is being moderated almost 24-7 right now.

This means active moderating, and over the last 36 hours the GD forum has cleaned up a great bit.
