OT - Diablo II

Yeah - and they say "Arrgh" very convincingly as well. Problem is that DII is too adictave for them to take the time to burn... or there is a problem and its not copiable and they dont want to admit it. I heard that there are files that are too big or something like that and its a problem when trying to copy it. If there is anything these guys are sure of its that they would rather be considered rude than incompitiant... to think there is a tech job they can't do is just blasphemy.
Hence they have not had the time to burn it.

I'm about to go buy it out right...
But I am getting ready to move - well, we are looking at houses right now closer to work. So money is under a budget now... and my wife doesnt put Software in this budget. :(

Happy Hunting!

Gotta wait one more payday (Aug. 1) before I can really give it any serious thought.

I should be able to get a little bit of a discount at Circuit City since I work there part-time. We're asking $49.99 for it, so I suspect I'll be able to save $5-7.

I read the entire box the other day. Manager was NOT happy about me standing around, and was even LESS happy when I pointed out that there weren't any customers for me to help! :D

Think I'll suppress my urge to buy, and wait for version 1.01 after the million "monkeys" and Blizzard work out the initial bugs. By then the price should be $40.

Question: My biggest complaint about DI was that it wasn't "cheat-proof" and consequently, everyone on the battle.net site cheated. Did they make this one somewhat cheatproof? If so, then man oh man that would be a kick in the pants to have some fair fights with strangers online!

Bad news.

Bnet has been down now for over 24 hours.

They say it will be p tonight... but that's what they said last night....

Good luck.

PS, my two handles right now are ShiningMail(lvl 21 paladin) and WishForDeath my lvl 22 barbarian.

Futo Inu: YES the multi player is cheat proof. Only because blizzard saves you char on their servers. To hack char you must hack their site.

Later.

I know what you mean George, this is my first time on TFL since DII came out. My amazon character is at lev 21. Its a great game and is even more addictive than the 1st.
I've been late to work too many times playing this game.

I'm another geek who's still playing D1. In fact, I just bought it this past Monday! :o The wife and I decided to wait on DII until the early bugs have been idntified and fixed.

Bring on the skeletons!

If you all get the chance you may want to try Deus Ex, you get to be a UN worker that turns to the resistance, it's like rainbow 6 crossed with theif the dark project. Very entertaining well made game with a hell of a good plot, I highly suggest it, especially for all you resistance types. Probably the best game of the year IMO. BTW you need a sort of hefty system for it, say 300 + w/ 3d acceleration, they fixed the D3D issues.

Get this. I broke down and got the game (at $50), but couldn't get it to work with my computer (the older CD-ROM cannot read the new-fangled copy-protected install disk), SO....Of course I had to go and buy a whole new computer system! Excellent excuse it was. The game is very very cool, but a full install took 1500 MG. Drop in the bucket I guess for some of these new systems with 10-40 Gigs.

I had problems too with the normal instal and had to go FULL... The benifit is that there is no switching CDs.
I'll admit - I have a cracked copy right now... So no Battle Net for me as of yet.
I am a big Blizzard fan - they are the only company to NOT make a suck-dung game to date.
After I am finished getting a new house and relocate (which we are trying to do as fast as we can) I WILL purchase a retail version and give credit to the makers instead of the pirates.

This game IS more addictive than the first...
First starting out the hard part is selecting which character use. So I tried them all. The Barbarian is well suited to starting out - but the lack of ranged attackes will make it more tricky in deeper levels. (or does that "deep" not apply in DII?) The Amazon is chesty to distraction... but has a great attack with those javelins. Necro is just creepy... The Wiz-Chick and Sir Lancelot are probably going to be my favorites.
I am not sure if I like the new skill sets. You raise a level and get 5 points to invest in a skill but now you have more places to put those 5 points... so you kinda have to plan ahead on how you are going to shape your character. I little more brainy than DI especially since you now have these talents to invest in as well...

TO all my Utah Shooting Buddies - I am preoccupied for the time being. :D

I never heard of this game  I've figured out it is a computer game but what kind of game? Anyone know of any good Playstation games? I've had it with Crash Bandicoots, I need a REAL game :D

Sandy, Diablo is a 3/4 view shooter (as opposed to real, er, that is, FPS shooters).

I was musing to Cindy last night, as I am wont to do, that I should model her new home in Quake 2 and we should use that for home defense practice. Weapons would be the Blaster and single-barrel shotgun. Enemies would be the Light, Machine Gun, and Shotgun guards. Enemy skins... well, I can't go into detail here, but suffice to say they'd have bright yellow letters on their backs. :D

No - Diablo is more of a Role Playing game than a shooter... Like what Baldur's Gate wanted to be but failed at... Baldur's Gate II is more like DI but with a vamped party system and old familiar AD&D environment if you played D&D when you were a kid (I admit I did for a little while until I discovered girls... :D )

Yeah, me too. But the real question is, Did that turning point happen at 14, 16, 18, 22, or 27 years? :) For me, about 14. But I had a neighbor that was into non-computer role playing games where he met weekly with his 20-something buds and role-played (WELL past the age he should have been).
