Opinions on the NRA "virtual" shooting center?

I read in today's paper that the NRA is opening a "virtual" shooting center in NYC.
The antis are all pissed off because it is such a large anti gun town and they don't like it.

But the NRA says they will sell outdoor equipment but NO GUNS.

I may be paranoid, but I am not real happy to see a "virtual" shooting trend start. If everyone seems satisfied with the electronic substitute, there may be a Trojan horse here.

Why have a real gun if you can shoot dots at ducks?

The article was largely negative as they said that the virtual ducks explode in a spatter of blood, etc.

Your opinions on these virtual NRA centers would be of interest to all of us I think.

NRA states that they plan to open them all over.

I am in favor of the virtual shooting centers in N.Y. only because it is such an anti-gun city, and because it makes the libs froth at the mouth.

Who knows?
Maybe someday they'll be able to sell virtual guns to combat all the virtual crime they have to live with in one of these gun free paradises. ;)

I think it' a great idea! It allows big city folks (and tourists from other countries), who equate guns with crime, the opportunity to see, and maybe better appreciate, the entire spectrum of the shooting sports.

Schumer and McCarthy expressed concerns on TV news that the NRA's new store and virtual shooting center will promote gun violence. This NRA venture will help to dispel the demonization of guns and the gun culture by narrow minded, fear mongering anti-gunners.

The NRA is setting up camp right in the enemy's backyard. This facility will be within walking distance of the headquarters of the three major networks and the UN.

I can't wait to eat in the restaurant. New Yorkers love resturants and an NRA theme will go over big. May even turn some anti's into hunters.

Besides, it will give Schumer ulcers :)

I would like to see a real indoor range, but the city would never let that happen in Times Square.

I don't think it could hurt in N.Y. City. Nothing to loose.
Yet it might be a good place to make the NRA presence felt. I have not lost faith in the people of N.Y. City. I want them to return to true democratic government. This is in the interests of us all.
There should be no political fiefdom in all of America whose rulers are safe from the Bill of Rights.

I love it. It's the only thing that would make me want to visit NYC. Once some of these people do a little "virtual" shooting, and see how enjoyable and "un-evil" (is that a word? well it is now) shooting can be, they are going to want to try the real thing. And, of course anything that annoys the gun bigots is always good. Take Care- Dakotan

I like it as well.

Will it p*ss off some people? You bet. But, the anti-self defense movement clearly wants a war, so to hell with them, I say. A stick in their eye is well deserved.

There will be many New Yorkers and tourists who will visit to show support, for the novelty of the idea, and to have fun. This can be a good intro for many people to the reality of firearms, in spite of the 'virtual' nature of the entertainment. If it is well managed, people may begin to notice that the 'gun culture' is simply responsible adults using fine tools.

The anti-self defense gun bigots especially hate something like this because it will foist the truth on an unsuspecting public. And, like cockroaches running from the light, gun bigots recoil from truth and logic.

I like the idea.

It would also be pretty cool if they had a "virtual armed mugger" game. It could probably be pretty similar to those LEO virtual training deals that they show on teevee. Of course, the only way to win would be to use a gun... It might even show some people that guns are a useful deterrent against crime.

As a Life Member, I'm all for it. As far as worrying about the media's condemnation, who gives a sh!t??

The Marxist Socialist controlled media have for many, many years, been demonizing gun owners in general, and NRA members in particular, as VERMIN! So who cares?? They can't demonize us any more than they have.

And let's not forget what happens to demonized vermin. They are exterminated! And that is precisely what the boys and girls in the Media, and many politicians and academics, want done to us. Their Lord and Master in the Red House thinks exactly as do they.

I like the idea, and hope they don't take too long to set one up down here in Dallas. Don't be surprised, though, if the NYC grubmint capriciously denies the NRA permission to build, or give them a license to operate . Sure, NRA could sue them for being arbitrary, but would the courts of NY state find in their favor? I hope so, but doubt it. :(

Sorry for raining on y'alls parade...

Great idea. I saw George Stephenaouplous (sp?)
and Cokie Roberts denounce it on ABC just now.

Unfortunately, Lazio - Rudy's successor is just as anti - guns only for hunters and he thought the store was a bad idea.

But - let it be successful and let NY residents see there is a solution to protection other than waiting for the police or have the police shoot innocent guys 19 times.

IMO, it is a ploy by the NRA to call out anti-gunners. I don't think they really plan on building it, just stirring up the sh!t in Hillary's new "home town". Get her to condemn it, call out the anti's, distract them, show them for the anti-gun bigots they are that they would be against what is essentially a video game room, demonstrate that anything that has the letters "NRA" attached is going to get a knee jerk reaction etc.
JMO.

Foreigners who can't have guns LOVE to come here and shoot. They drop thousands of dollars at a time in large groups, renting every gun at a range, shooting all day. Especially japanese tourists I have seen LOVE to shoot while in free America.
I could see this center bringing in a LOT of money from tourists.

Some idiot who runs the Times Square said that they "just got rid of the gun culture", meaning that they had just gotten rid of the criminals who had infested that area. He is against the shooting center.
Imagine, he is equating good shooters with common muggers, lumping them all together as the "gun culture". What an ass. I hope that the rest of America sees what an ass he is for saying that and comparing thugs to good gun owners in the same group. As if the NRA shooting center is going to attract thugs?

Last night, on Saturday Night Live (hosted in New York of course, with a live audience), Colin Quinn was doing his mock news report.
When he brought up the NRA shooting center, there were cheers from some people in the crowd and no boos. New York audiences are known for letting their feelings ne known like this, so I was paying close attention. There was a lot of loud cheering for the shooting center.

BTW, when he brought up the MMM, the place was silent. No cheering. ;) I wished I would have heard booing though.

What's the big deal. Just go to any mall in America and you'll find one of these virtual shooting ranges.

It's a called a game room. There's nothing new being proposed here with the exception of the letters "N-R-A" which the liberal bogits hate.

IF the NRA gave 1 million dollars to some childrens charity they would be hounded for that too.

The time for cowering and being PC is over. We have a right to voice our positions too!

NRA? Good. Now joing the GOA!

As a bonus, if the N.Y.C. government tries to interfere with it, it could be the basis for some excellent civil liberties based lawsuits.
I like the idea more and more.
The final step would be when we could sell firearms themselves to law abiding citizens in Times Square itself.
Wouldn't that be an eye opener for the foriegners?

It is great for unmasking the antis, who claim to only oppose crooks having guns. If they oppose the NRA shooting cafe, then they oppose *anyone* having a gun, law-abiding or not. Great for exposing the true colors of those who would deny you your civil rights.

As if all the Bloods and Crips are going to be down there practicing . . .

f*ck the anti's let them see it and as you said above, the bloods and the krypts can shoot all they want, and save money on ammo. They can have simulation drive-bys, and tell the gang members to do it virtually, instead of for real. Who knows we could save a few lives or two.

Since I am a born and bred New Yorker I love to see this . So many guys get off work and go to hockey games for venting that I think this would fit right in . When the Rangers are out of town they can go to the range . The average guy would love this . YO! Noo Yawkers !! Tawk too me !!
