opinions on .45 upgrade or buy new?

I just went through the same thing with a Springfield Armory 1911. I decided to sell it and buy a total package. I sold the SA for $500 and bought a Les Baer Premier II for $1,000. For $500 extra dollars I would never have been able to get the SA to shoot like a Baer. Moreover, If I ever want to sell (and come on guys, you know we get bored pretty quickly) the value of a LB PII will be significantly higher than any SA with a load of upgrades.

Avoid the 1911 trap man...run, run like the wind. Don't sink tons of money into a 1911. You can spend $2k and wind up with nothing more than a jumble of really, really expensive fancy parts.

only 1000$ for a baer? I'll have to check it out. I'm only planning on putting about 200-300$ into my kimber but then i'll wind up with 700-800$ invested, for 200 more I could have a baer-thats a no brainer---I will check this out , thanks
