I don't think anyone chooses a levergun for quote "Long Range" but instead versatility.
The average shooter can run a levergun a little faster for close range repeat shots, if needed, and one that is chambered in at least a medium range cartridge can still make that 300 yr shot, if they can shoot, without too much guess work. And for some people who just prefer leveractions over bolts, they are not handicapped with a short-range weapon, only.
