One out of every 3,600 NRA Members showed up for the SAS_AIMM defense of our 2ed amme

Futo, your thoughts are what mine were initially. Even when I got down to Chicago, I thought my presence as a male might put the wrong "spin" on the SAS presence. But when I saw the number of male Million Morons, it became a non-issue.

It sounds like there are a lot of people on this forum who've been active like me for many years. It also sounds like there are some who are relatively new to grassroots organizing, and to those I want to say this:
if you're frustrated at the lack of involvement by gun owners, get used to it. While the number of people active this year seems small, it's a seachange from just two years ago. _Some_ gun owners are finally seeing the big picture. The others won't see the picture until it lands on their heads.

Casull,

Yes, that is the bus I was talking about. I agree with you in that if we did not get some donations to cover the empty seats on the bus, we would have had to cancel it. The bus cost $1375 for the trip, and had 55 seats. That works out to $25 per seat. with a $1 tip per seat, that made the cost $26 per seat. We made no extra money on the bus deal. we just wanted to cover the cost. I'm sorry, but I couldn't pay for the bus myself! If it were not for the sponsors we got at the last minute, we still would have been forced to cancel the bus. We couldn't even get riders even though all the seats were paid for! Warm bodies were needed in DC to make our point. An empty bus hardly has the same impact!

Coineach,

Our bus left on Saturday night, leaving the Cleveland/Akron area at 10pm. The bus drove all night, arriving in DC in the early morning hours. Then the rally, then returning back to the NE Ohio area at around Midnight Sunday evening. A 24 hour investment was not too much to ask of people to fight for our Second Amendment rights!

My wife and I flew to DC since she had to be there for an organizational meeting on Saturday evening. I also have a sister that lives in the area so we were able to visit with her briefly.

After we got home Sunday, my wife had to stay up to wait for the bus to get back since one of the riders didn't have a ride home after the bus got in! That alone was an hour just to get to the bus site and then drive back home! That's dedication!

Remember, just because you are not paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you!

BS, Coinneach. I think you may have taken the whole topic wrong. I haven't talked to anyone who came away from the rally unfrustrated. Of course, we all have responsibilities. Of course we understand that not everyone could make it. I was thrilled that I was able to, although I burned up all my vacation time, etc. I obviously would have to miss the next one if it was held before the first of the year. But a few more than the 1500 that did show up would have been nice. 82,997,000 people had to work that day? How many of them lived within a few hours and just didn't bother? It's just so damn frustrating. The criticism wasn't directed to you. It certainly wasn't addressed to anyone who has attended 17 events this year in the name of freedom. Makes me feel pretty wimpy, myself :) Hope you understand where the frustration comes from, I'm sure you've felt it yourself.

Peace

To those who countered the MMMs, thank you. I appreciate your efforts, applaud them, salute them, and I stand up and clap my fat, little hands with glee, approval, respect, and appreciation.

However, you don't know:
a) what fellow gun owners do every day, and
b) what fellow gun owners were doing THAT day.

I understand your frustration. I agree the vast majority of gun owners and so-called believers in civil rights are apathetic beyond belief - nearly lemming-like in their pursuit of the status quo.

Others are truly afraid to participate. They fear the government that gave us Waco, Ruby Ridge, Elian, the IRS, etc. etc.

But the people here are NOT your enemy. You are not only preaching to the choir, you are complaining ABOUT those who support your views, TO those who support your views because they missed ONE chance to fight the anti-freedom gun grabbers.

So calm yourselves. Revel in the well-deserved acclaim you receive for fighting the anti-freedom forces in America.

But do not, not for one minute, make blanket accusations of apathy to the members of THIS board because we were not beside you on this ONE day!
-------

Now if you truly want to feel frustration, consider the 80 million gun owners who vote for slow gun control (the Republicans) to show disapproval of FAST gun control (the Democrats) when we all could vote for NO gun control (many of the third parties)!

I don't mean to "vear" the thread - merely show you that frustration in defense of our RKBA is more than a one-day ulcer.

(Please pass the Maalox... danged Zantac wasn't strong enough. ;) )

Either you believe in the Second Amendment or you don't.
Stick it to 'em! RKBA!

Hello. I think we need a new course of action...

The AIMM rally was a reaction or counterdemonstration rally to the MMM. What we as gunowners need is a proactive, planned, well-executed march on Washington. The Fathers for Freedom or whatnot rally. We need someone to organize the rally sometime in the early fall, and every firearms owner in America needs to attend. We should get Ted Nugent for a singer, Tom Selleck, and other progun celebs. We should fill the mall like the Promise Keepers rally. Everyone should take that day off and go. No excuses regarding work. I'm a physician in Texas...I'll be there. We should make a stand and make a case for the second amendment.

We need to make a case for the second amendment. Schools, urban lifestyles, and simply apathy at recruiting new people to the shooting sports has cost us dearly. Unless we can make people see beyond the label "gun nut", we are not going to see our rights guaranteed for our children, much less our grandchildren.

This rally is not a job for the NRA or the GOA. It needs to be an independent, well-organized, grassroots event or the press will just slam the NRA or GOA as being behind it.

The question is, what are you prepared to do to defend your gun rights?

Please Read This ---If You Dare....

I had a dream the other night, I did not understand.

Afigure walking through the mist with a flintlock in his hand. His clothes were torn and dirty as he stood there by my bed. He took off his three cornered hat and speaking low he said:
We fought a revolution, to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution, a shield from tyranny. For future generations, this legacy we gave, in this the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

You buy permits totravel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a buisness, or to build a place for one.On the land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent.Although you have no voice in how the mony's spent.

Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate. Your Christian values can't be taught, according to the state. You read about the current news in a regulated press. You pay a tax you do not owe, to a foriegn IRS.Your money is no longer made of silver or of gold. You trade your wealth for paper, so your lives can be controlled. You pay for crimes that make our Nation turn from God in shame. You've taken Satan's number, as you've traded in your name. You've given government control, to those who do you harm,

So they can paddlock your churches and steal your family farm. And keep our country deep in debt, put men of God in jail. Harass
your fellow countrymen, while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn vow they've sworn. They defy and rape the nation, and leave it's fabric tattered and torn.

Your leaders ship artillery and guns to foriegn shores. And you send you sons to slaughter, fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedom for hwich we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage to stand and fight with pride? Are ther no more values for which you'll fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear as a slave?

People of Republic, arise and take a stand!
Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of this Land! Preserve our Great Republic, and God Given Right! And pray to God, to keep the torch of Freedom burning bright!

As I awoke he vanished, in the mist from whence he came. His words were true, we are not free,we have ourselves to blame. For even now, as tyrannts trample each God Given Right, we only watch and tremble, to afraid to stand and fight.

If he stood by your bedside, in a dream, while you're asleep, and wonders what remains
of our Rights he fought so hard to keep....
What would be your answer, if he called out from the grave;

IS STILL THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE!
