Once you have your revolver needs met, how do you proceed?

Well, I proceeded by settling on Single Actions.... And .44Spec/.44Mag, .45 Colt, and .44 percussion calibers. Even with this 'constraint' there is plenty of revolvers that still tickle my fancy.... But it does slow me down... All my guns are shooters BTW. S&W revolvers are therefore off the table (don't like how they look anyway).

Then there is finding the perfect load at the loading bench and chronograph.... That is another area you can turn too.

Of course, shooting those guns is a lot of fun too.

SPARES!

You forgot that you need spares. Just because you got 4 tires on your car doesn't mean you are done. You need that fifth wheel just in case. Yeah, you got your hunting revolver, but what happens if it breaks? That's when you go for your spare.

And sometimes you need 2 tools to complete the job. That's why you should really have 2 sets of wrenches. Well, what would happen if you need 2 hunting revolvers to get the job done, but you only had one?

See, you need spares.

Once you have your revolver needs met
You mean that happens?

Well, then I guess you start filling your semi-auto needs. then your single shot needs with a T/C Contender or Encore. That will start a whole bunch more needs for barrels, and scopes.
Then there is the C&R FFL you need to get so you can start ordering milsurp guns to be sent direct to your house. Still a few great handguns on the C&R list available.
Not to mention Mosen Nagant , Mauser, SKS, and Steyr rifles that are still abundant!
Now back to the revolvers. You sure you have your needs met? 22 rimfire, 327 Federal, 38 spcl/357, 44 spcl, 44 magnum, 45 Colt, 410/45 Colt, 454 Casull, 460, and 500 S&W? Single Action, Double Action? Sure you got all your needs met?:D:D:D

I'm not a 'collector'. (At least that's what I say.) But I seem to find all sorts of various 'needs' that a specific gun will best fill.

When it comes down to it - - - I could get it all done with:

- a bolt action rifle that'll shoot 22s, l, or lr
- a .30-06 bolt rifle with irons and scope
- a 4" or 5" barrel 44 Mag revolver
- a 12 gauge pump shotgun with some extra barrels

To answer the original question - - - I have a list of guns (many of them revolvers) that are among my favorites to shoot, that are no longer made. When I see these at a good price, I buy them. I've never regretted doing this. - - -With quality guns, I've always been able to get my money back, and usually more than I paid.

I realized I had a sickness when I started customizing a dedicated squirrel shotgun. I knew it was bad when I decided I started looking into a specialized muzzleloader for squirrel hunting.

It isn't like squirrel hunting is my big thing. I only squirrel hunt when going for a walk in the woods and nothing else is in season. All the same, I find myself NEEDING a 22, shotgun, and muzzle loader specialized for the task. In the back of my mind I also realize a 22lr pistol like a charger or maybe an Encore set-up will be needed before it is all over.

Are you telling me you have all your revolver NEEDS covered? If so I request a sample of your blood to be sent to the MAYO Clinic so they can investigate synthesizing a cure.

johnwilliamson062 - - thank you ! That's a funny post ! :D

I think many of us can relate - (though I havent quite gotten to the muzzle loader squirrel gun stage yet.)

yup... I guess you go from "needs" to collecting of some sort, or move on to semis, shot guns, or rifles...

a couple things I did when my "needs" were met...

yup... started collecting...

how many different calibers...
antique & C&R revolvers... top break, solid frame pre loading gate, bottom break, black powder cartridge, etc. ( I have about 3 dozen of these in various brands & configurations )
specific purpose use... target / bullseye, cowboy action, etc.
