On the selling of pre-ban magazines

So a friend of mine is pcsing to California, and as a going away present I went and bought him 3 preban Glock magazines. Turns out, he can't take them into California because it's not legal to import them, so I'm out a good bit of money and need to try and recoup.

I know pre-ban magazines can be sold online, but most of the states that buy them tend to have laws about them so I was wondering if anyone knew what those laws were and could share them because I'm having issues tracking them all down and I would really rather not get in trouble just for trying to sell something I have no use for.

Any help gentlemen?

Can you tell me how to determine if a magazine was imported or if it was in state before the ban? Just askin'.

Well, from what I read they look at how long you have lived in the state for one. That would be a clear indicator.
So if he pcsed into California in a week, and got caught with the magazine, he would get in trouble.

The majority of the states do not have their own versions of the Assault Weapons bill. The Fed law went away in 2004, but the states that passed their own versions didn't. This includes NY, NJ, CA, and a couple of others.

Why not just put them up for sale where you are?

I live in South Carolina, no one is going to pay the pre-ban price I paid for them since they can just get regular high cap mags, and I would rather not sell them for 50% or less than what I paid.

Backpage.com accepts guns and related items, and I believe ebay just reversed their policy to also allow selling of magazines. I'd check their policy on pre-ban, but you do have options.

Good luck!

I have them listed on Armslist, I just didn't want to run into another problem like with the California thing, I was just wanting to knew if anyone knew of any other funky laws that might make shipping them somewhere else a hassle.

You said it in a nut shell. You're stuck with the magazines.
