On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me....

My wife also got me a gun for the first time this Christmas. She went down on her own and ordered me a Sig 220 Two Tone. She heard me saying I wanted it but didn't want to spend the money (being a fairly new father does wierd things to you). So she bought it for me.

gift bearing wives

Awwwww....it gives me warm fuzzy feelings inside to hear these stories of wives buying new guns for their hubby's. You guys are truely blessed and you need to continue to nourish that.

He wont be able to nourish it if his wife sees his post!

"And if you TRY to snatch the 1911 from MY hand grasshopper, it'll be time for you to leave...":D

"you'll realize how hollow the term "Glock Perfection" really rings "

Now, Archer... let's not fight! :D

As a bit of biographical info, I was raised on 1911s by a father who spent 21 yrs in the USMC infantry...

So, I am well aware of their pluses and minuses... having outgrown the .45 long ago, and learning to love the .38 super only a little later than a semi-famous IPSC master shooter, led to many fun days playing with a 1911 so chambered.

I just may have to invest in a 5" .38 Super barrel and adjustable sights for the full size SA...

BTW, both pistols have been out-back and both performed without a hitch. The only JHP ammo thru the Ultra-Compact was IMI but it never bobbled.

The only thing that concerns me, in a dean-speir-ited manner, is the unsupported brass at the feed ramp... :D

So your wife has more gun sense than you do? Big deal! :D

Just kidding.

Wise man once said, "Never complain when wife buys guns for you."

Enjoy them.

9X19, we won't even want to start the discussion between 9X19 and .45ACP, right ?? :D

Seriously though, I bet it's going to be a nice Xmas AM in the Parabellum household.;)

Besides the .38 Super barrel...

You can now have an excuse to go out and buy a Ceiner conversion unit. :D
.22LR is the real fun way to shoot a 45ACP...so much cheaper than 45ACP, .38 Super, 9X19 etc. etc. and way FUN!

Congratulations on 25 years of marrage, she sounds a keeper;)

"I've gotten a new gun almost every year from my wife for the past 15.....It's getting old, all I really want is a new vacuum."

Liar! Wasn't that long ago she was just your girlfriend. And we [P7 Cultists] saw the pictures. If you were married to her for 15 years you'd've been in jail for most of'em.

We all know you really want a new vacuum.

Archer,

Nope no need to discuss the merits of the Lean and mean vs. the lumbering obese. :D

Crimper:

Back in the day when I owned about a dozen 1911s, I had a Colt Ace .22 conversion and while it was fun... it was also a pain switching back and forth. I finally bought a frame for it, but now I enjoy the Browning Buckmarks more than I would another conversion.

The 9x23 sounds interesting but the .38 Super has lots of nostalgia and is an old friend.
