On filing sights to regulate.............

Historically, guns came from the factory sighted-in for the cartridge's standard load.
.38 Spl = 158grs @ 750fps, .45 ACP = 230grs @ 850fps, etc.

Today, there are so many options of bullet weight and velocity, that there's little chance that any one combination of load and shooter is going to be on target at that shooter's preferred target distance, especially when some are using a 6:00 hold on a bullseye, while others are aiming directly at the center of a golf ball, or whatever.

I agree about not aiming one place to hit another place; life's too short for all-the-time Kentucky windage.
