Olympic Arms Bans Business in NY

One would sincerely hope that there are behind the scenes phone calls being made between the presidents of various small firearms companies in the USA, and we should ourselves be besieging the other makers with copies of these sorts of declarations of these sorts of letters being sent by their competition, with a suggestion that they do likewise.

Personally, I will choose to support firms that take such a stand, and will avoid the products made by competitors.

We should engage in an effort to make that choice a widespread one, and to publicize the effort.

Got a love it:

Another firearms company chooses not to do business with those who make it their business to disarm civilians. From York Arms’ web site:

Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York. As a result we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies . . .

For “civilian” customers residing in New York:
At your choice, we will:

complete your order and ship to a dealer of your choice outside of NY
refund your payment in full
hold your items here for up to 6 months, at no charge – if you are in the process of leaving NY and taking residence in another state.

For LE/Govt customers in New York:

Your orders have been cancelled.

Thank You! Good on them too.

I just sent them an email to place an order for a Custom AR-15.

I am going to order one from every manufacturer that takes this stance with New York. Might follow it up with letters to those who are not taking the same stance offering the advice that the market is selecting those who support the RKBA agenda. Bushmaster comes to mind right away.

Wow! This type of stance by a gun manufacturer is remarkable. I am very impressed and hope it will ultimately serve to help lawmakers realize what a bad choice they have made supporting this unjust law.

York Arms has now joined the list.

Firearms Company Striking Back At Anti-Gun NY By Cancelling All Orders For NYPD

...

Now, one firearms company, York Arms is also taking action against the unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment rights of every New York resident. Located in Buxton, Maine, York Arms specializes in custom firearms and gunsmithing. Among their clientele is the New York City Police Department. However, that’s one client that the company is willing to give up because of the city and state’s gun control laws.

The letter:

“Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York.

As a result, we have halted sales of rifles, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies.

The list grows longer:

Now, if we can get the big boys to join like Colt, Remington, et al, we might just get their attention.

Betting that only one or two of the above actually supplied anything under contract to any law enforcement agencies in NY. To think for a moment that Cheaper than Dirt was a contract supplier... Uhh... <sigh>... no.

This seems like good advetising. But not likely anything that anyone "on the other side" will even notice.

Still, it's a good gesture.

You know, I never really wanted an AR15 rifle, but now that the government is telling me I shouldn't want one, shouldn't have one, may not be able to acquire one in the near future, etc., I think I want one now. And, in response to Olympic's stance, I do believe that my first AR15 will be made by them, along with an embarrassing array of accessories I'll most likely never use.

What would really work and get the N.Y. lawmakers attention would be if all manufacturers and distributors of everything firearms refused to sell to the police departments, warden service etc. of N.Y. This would include not just the AR15/AK47 rifles and high capacity handguns etc. but all ammunition and other supplies needed to conduct their business.
It would require the all firearms related businesses to be monolithic with this strategy which is probably impossible.
