"Older" model Ruger Predator

i got both and would consider the flush mag the better pick. a lot easier to carry in the field. fwiw....
ps the thing i would ditch is the scope, they are not my deal at all.

Several options.

If the stock has an insert around the magazine opening you can buy another insert from Ruger, then convert it to use AI magazines. If it doesn't have the insert you'll have to buy the entire stock from Ruger to convert. Either way you'll have to also buy more magazines

Ruger changed to a 4 round staggered feed magazine recently which is a better design than the old rotary magazines. This might be a good option for you. They are a bit cheaper buying through Midway than Ruger

The 3 round single stack magazines made for 450 BM actually work with all short action cartridges such as 308, 7-08, 243, and 6.5 CM. They do protrude slightly below the stock and only hold 3 rounds, but they really do work better than anything else. I bought some of these for my Predator in 6.5 CM.

Unless you want or need to have 5 or 10 round magazines the 3 round single stack mags are my choice. The standard magazine that comes with the AI Predator version is just a 3 round magazine. You'll have to buy extra 5 or 6 round mags.

Thank you for these replies and the information. I confirmed with another dealer today that they have the 26973 in stock, which does have the AI-capability. I'm leaning that only because I believe that is the same as on my Ruger Precision 6.5 Creedmoor (which has to go back to NH due to a burr or some such nonsense that does not allow me to hit paper at 50 or 100 yards).

rotary v. staggered

Based largely on the positive comments from jmr40 and others on this site, I bought a blem Ruger Predator in 18.5" /.308 late this summer, and wrote about it somewhere on this forum at that time. Mine came with the newer 4-rd staggered box and seems to feed just fine. Bamaboy bought the original Predator in 6.5CM about a year a go (more like he stole it) and fitted a MagPul stock to his rig, so I had access to the rotary mag that came with his rifle. That rotary mag will not feed .308's into my rifle reliably at all, but I should not be surprised, as there may well be feed lip differences between 6.5CM and .308.
