Old Quarter Bores

It does have the Lyman and a side mounted Weaver 4x (3/4” tube) that is very awkward to look through. They aren’t the most common. It does ok with 100 gr factory loads despite the 1-14 barrel.

Mine was purchased by my great grandfather in the 1920s so I have some old load data back to 1924 on it. He used 60 gr 25-20 bullets at absurd velocities for hawk hunting. You can’t get DuPont 17 1/2 anymore but some did use IMR 3031.

The only 25 I have left is a Win 53 in 25/20. Just recently sold my Sav 99 in 250. I’ve had several 25/06 but never had one that was keeper status.

Call me crazy but for several years I have wanted a lightweight bolt action in 25 Remington. It is NOT a powerhouse. In Rifle Magazine John Haviland wrote an article about shooting two 25 bores and one was the 25 Rem in an old Remington model 30. I have looked but never found one. Oh well, dare to dream right?
