***** 'Ol Slab Sides******

I gues HS didn't appreciate all that were posted at Shooters, to wit:

One day arrived, a thing of wonder.
Basic black, this hand held thunder.
The polymer frame, meant Light and Feisty.
Your choice of bore, plus high capacity.
This child of genius, benchmarked perfection.
Sounds the death knell, for the single action.
In defense of life, there's but one question.
Which caliber, of Glock Perfection?
It never fails, so shifts the tide.
No one will mourn, for ol' slabsides.

Make mine lean, mean, and 9x19!

9x19,

(Imagine proper squint-eyed look and Bugs Bunny voice.)

"Ehhh. You realize, Doc, this means WAR!" ;)

-------

(With apologies to Gaston Glock! :) )

The box that it comes in, is too much like Tupperware,
And you surely won’t find, a real gun inside there
Made somewhat of tin, but much more of plastic
It’s adored by only, the new and the spastic!

As Glock owners proudly, espouse their three safeties
They blow holes in both, their toesies and kneesies!
And Glock’s trigger safety, is what I would call
Cocked, locked, and holstered, with NO safety at all!

Too timid to handle, Slabside’s extra power
They think that their wonder-Nine, will handle the hour!
With big hi-cap mags, they spray and they pray
And hope seventeen shots, just might save the day.

So they practice at blasting, and not about “aim”,
Never thinking of innocent, people they’d maim.
And with seventeen misses, then the Glock pistol maven
Prays HS and Slabsides, will stop by to save ‘em!

(Tee hee! :D )

Aw, I hope you can tell, that I’m only teasin’
‘Cause I have a Glock too, and it surely is pleasin’
And it’s friendly to shoot, for score and for fun,
But to bet my life on, I’ll take a real gun.

With the Glock’s fat old handle, it’s too hard to hide!
So when I go out, Slabside’s on my side.
No .38 Special or Glock nine sensation
I’ll rely on the gun that, saved GIs and our nation.

And when you rely, upon Glock “Perfections”
Don’t shoot lead in your forty - it will end up in sections.
The nine is too weak, the three five seven sig,
Costs too much to practice, and jams like a pig.

No one will mourn, for Slabsides that is true.
For the Glockster you know, will be too dead to!
So you keep your Glock, but to keep me alive,
I’ll carry and shoot, Slabsides .45!

Yowch! Damn, Dennis, you should be on alt.flame! ;)

Sorry about this non-poetic post, but...

My 1911 has been decommissioned, and is now resting comfortably in the safe. My Glock 20, with loads the FBI decided were too hot for their weenie little agents, is locked up in my truck (the mag removed and in my pocket).

Big, ugly (or straightforward), and hits like Mike Tyson in a testosterone rage. Points like my finger and eats one ragged hole at 50 feet. And it doesn't need to be cuddled and coaxed like my 1911. :P

"The right of no person to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person and property, or in aid of the civil power when thereto legally summoned, shall be called in question.." Article 11, Section 13, CO state constitution.

Well... gee. If you're gonna FORCE me to be honest....

I like Glock! I wish I had the money to buy a Glock .45 - but I just can't justify the expense at the moment.

:) Just another story of, "So many guns, so little time!"

The best shooter I ever worked with (or for) ended up using a Glock 17 - and the man was good!

But relying solely on "keep your finger off the trigger" simply gives me the willies. I *know* it works. I know thousands of folks have no problem with it. But I do. And the problem is me - not the Glock.

But that .45 safety and I (so far) seem to work fine. (Multiple knocks on wood heard here!) If I keep my finger off the trigger AND use the safety I just feel safer, more confident, and less distracted.

So I qualify with the Glock. Practice with both. And carry the 1911 (clone).

Truth is... I really like them all! :D

glock just doesnt hace the history behind it. It didnt "stop em cold" and save American lives for nearly 100 years. sure it is a great pistol.but!!!!!
