Nobody is perfect.
I'll agree with that...and so will Ayoob. He does enough and has a high enough profile that occasionall, thru being human, he will make a mistake and get berated by it. Taking a single comment or act and berating it out of context and error tolerances is simply unfair to anyone.
To rehash creamed cases...
Ayoob does mention them to his students, especially if they ask. There's no particular reason for him to put screwups in print for the average gunrag reader to giggle over while drooling at the latest gizmos.
Just curious about the name.
Many of us percieve "What the hell kind of name is..." to be something less than an innocent query. Dropping the curse would help raise the innocece factor.
I don't enthusiasticly endorse him because I've seen him quoted as stating he believes citizens ought to be required to pass a gun training/proficiency test before being able to own a gun, or something similar - he thinks if you haven't had his training course, you really don't know what the hell you're doing.
He does not limit it to his own courses. After taking LFI-I, I felt about the same, having just realized how profoundly gun-stupid most people are. Methinks he would _like_ to see it, but recognizes that it won't fly in the face of rights issues; it's not a hard-and-fast rule to fight for, just a wish.
Somebody wrote that he's a lawyer.
He's not a lawyer. He's an expert witness.
I personally don't have anything against or for Adoodi.
Then at least have the common decency to not insult his name.
He has berated one caliber over another, then pulled a 180 degree switch and embraced it.
He's allowed to change his mind, especially as technolgies and needs change. Watch the context: he'll gladly berate the .32 ("Friends don't let friends carry mouse guns"), but then recognize that it is actually suitable for certain uses (office workers need deep concealment; a 1911 or even G26 would be spotted eventually and the worker fired).
He has extolled the virtues (in print)of ammunition in which he had a vested interest, and has embraced other firearms, ammo, and gadgets over the years in the same way.
He's also repeatedly said that he won't vest any interest in anything that is not of high virtue.
He has tried to ram the "reloads will kill you in court" baloney down the readers' collective throats for years, yet to the best of my knowledge, there has never been a self defense/murder case wherein factory vs. reload became an issue.
As someone active in gun-related court cases, he's come to that reasonable conclusion. The point is not that there has been any such cases, but that in today's legal climate there likely will be such an issue.
He also makes it clear that it is ONE issue among MANY. Just be aware of the issue and balance it against all the other issues one should consider. If you intelligently accept the risk (however great or small it is) that's fine with him. He does NOT say "absolutely no reloads".
Side note:
PlusP,
We've banged heads over this from time to time. Let me just state again that I do respect you as having much experience on the street and in print, and enjoy reading your posts and learn from them.
