Sorry but I have to ask... you say that two chambers were tight and three loose, you mean against the forcing cone? As if the cylinder were not aligned properly in the frame? Or do you mean regarding the diameter? I know that this is not unheard of, but would not expect it on a new Ruger. Also you said that the barrel was 'canted'. Was this a new firearm, and has anyone else seen something like that or would you expect to?

I know that Ruger has experienced some bad press for their QC in the very recent past, but I would hope not THAT bad.. so I'm curious.

It seems like half of the new S&W revolvers I've peaked at in recent years managed to leave the factory with canted barrels.
