This was inspired by another tread.

Pick your 5 guns based on the following criteria (one gun per category). I know some have 2 each but play along. Feel free to tell why you choose the one you did.

1) Plinking/Fun
2) Utility/Woods
3) Home Defense
4) Conceal Carry
5) One you can't live with out.

1. any 22 long rifle/ cheap, anyone can shoot it
2. good bolt action .243/ one of the most versatile cartridges made
3. 1897 winchster 12 guage/ ammo is easy to get, kills anything and a blind person can hit with it
4. Model 36 S&W/ just because
5. Colt 1911/ because they have worked for the past 100 years

Ok I will go first

1) Plinking/Fun. Ruger MKIII. Built to last for my grandkids. Good price. Accurate shot. Cheap Ammo

2) Utility/Woods. Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm. Able to shoot 3 types of ammo. Built to last for my grandkids. Good Price. accurate shot.

3) Home Defense Ruger p95. Built like a tank. Shoots anything I feed it. High capacity mags. poplar ammo. Good Price

4) Conceal Carry. Ruger SP101 Ok this is the only category I don't already own. i want a .357 snub nose revolver. I ask suggestions on this board and it seems like the way to go.

5) One I can't live without Ruger Single Six. Mainly because it was my first gun. but it is a blast to shoot and I look forward to passing it to my son.

Your Turn:):D:):D;)

3) Home Defense= Glock 19

Sorry for the long guns in my post but it wasn't specified in the question so for #2 29 S&W / because I wouldn't want to be in the bear woods with anything less. #3 any good 9mm/ end of the world, 9mm is carried by most military and LE agencies.

I'll limit this to handguns I actually own...

1) Plinking/Fun - Ruger MKII/512 Target .22LR

2) Utility/Woods - a tough call, would give the edge to my Ruger P345 .45 ACP w/4 8-round mags. Light to carry and more than enough for the Florida woods.

3) Home Defense- S&W 22-4 .45 ACP revolver, hard hitting and fast reloads with lots of ready moonclips. Backup is a S&W Model 64-3 .38 special w/ +P LSWCHP rounds.

4) Conceal Carry - Ruger LCP, also a tough call over my S&W Models 637-2 and 60-7, but the Ruger is easier to pocket carry and has a spare mag. My 1913 version of the 1908 Colt Vest Pocket Pistol (.25 ACP) is a sentimental favorite in this category.

5) One you can't live with out - easy choice, my 1921 version of the 1908 Colt Hammerless .380 Pocket Pistol - a classic all-steel .380 that shoots like a dream.

6) Hunting - S&W 686-4 .357 mag

7) Target / rimfire - Ruger MKII/512 Target .22LR w/Hogue target grips

8) Target / centerfire - S&W Model 14-1 .38 special. Classic 6" target gun w/trigger job.

9) Car gun - S&W Model 10-5 snub .38 special w/ +P LSWCHP rounds

Handguns only, and in my current collection:

Fun/Plinking. Walther P22. Not my most accurate rimfire pistol, but just plane FUN to shoot.

Utility/woods. Ruger GP 100 6" full lug. 357 Mag for serious work, 38 spcl for small game/ general shooting, shot loads for snake protection. And all interchangeable.

Home defense. Beretta 92fs.
Concealed Carry. Springfield Armory XD40 Subcompact.

One I can't live without. Purely sentimental reasons, although it's a great gun. My Granddad's High Standard HD Military.
He gave it to me when I was about 14, 50 years ago. The two of us have a lot in common. Production dates are about the same, and we both might be old but we both still shoot pretty good!
