OK, I'll ask. How can you determine the sex of a pistol?

Autos are definitely female. I mean, they can be tempermental unless you buy the nicest ammo, you have to properly accesorize or something will go wrong and, finally, you have to insert something in their butt in order for them to function properly.

Speaking as an electronic engineer, by the standards we use to determine the gender (that's the term we use) of a connector, they are all female. If the electrical contact of a connector is a socket, its female, if its a pin, its male.

The important part of a gun (the barrel) has a hole in so its female.

This is too easy. IF IT GIVES YOU PROBLEMS, IT'S A FEMALE!!!!! :D

But if it's the most accurate and reliable weapon you've ever seen, it's definately a male!

If you talk to it in French it goes to the le gun or la gun concept. Leave it to the forgs to have a bi-sexual language. None of my guns understand french thank god. :) They all smell like gun oil so must be male. :)
 
My wife has always taken to determining gender and then naming all our firearms. One of my pre-ban Colt AR's was on the living room floor last weekend as I was changing the scope mounts when she told me that the rifle was female. I'd figured male, it had too many bells and whistles, weighed a ton and was rather big and ornery looking. 'Nope, female', she told me. She said it was like those female athletes in some countries who take so many performance enhancing drugs they become sort of both male and female. She said that as long as a gun that big and ugly was only a .223 it was nothing but a female on steroids... she named it Maude.

I just picked up a Remington LTR and a Beretta Compact L Type M yesterday. My wife said the Type M was female. I had to agree, based on appearance and how it felt. Later last night as I was experimenting with IWB carry with the Type M I knew it was female. Felt just too good stuffed in my waistband to be anything but a seductive female.

I only have one gender-specific gun, it's a Remington 870 Police model, and his name is "Beauford", because he's loaded with 3" Magnum 000 Buckshot. My wife agreed with that name, no problem. On the other hand, she named my Colt AR-15 "Sproing", because the sound of the buffer spring in the buttstock drove her nuts as she fired it! The AK-47 is, of course, "Klack". Oh, my "new" No5Mk1 Jungle Carbine is now "The Elmer Fudd Gun", because of the cone-shaped flash hider...

I think it has to do with how they look and feel. My Kimber Pro-CDP is definately Female because she is beautiful with lots of smooth curves :) and a satin silver slide.

My Glock on the other hand, is stocky, rugged and built like a rock. He's definately male.
