Off duty police drinking

I've heard "my rights were violated" so many time I'm sick of it. I have never violated anyones rights. Most people who say that are most likely doing somthing wrong.

He didn't name you in particular, did he? Or are you willing to state that no LEO has ever violated the rights of a US citizen?

I was working when Earl Scott (chp officer) was gunned down on the side of the freeway for no reason. I reponded to the call for help only to see him dead on the side of the road with a hole in his head. HE HAD HIS RIGHTS VIOLATED.Now his killer is sitting in jail getting to watch tv and wait 26 years to die, and that only if the freaks of cali convict him.

So rights are violated on both sides, usually in a much more serious way for LEOs. Does this make other violations alright? Is shoplifting still a crime, despite the murders and rapes that happen every day? As a LEO, you knew that your job would be dangerous. I thank you for signing up anyways, along with all the others who protect us. But part of that job is to protect us, even from those who wear the uniform, when it is needed. Most LEOs are the type that protect us. Unfortunately, those we need protection from, and those who refuse that protection, give the rest a bad name.

Edit: Thank's to my understatement of the year, it sounds as though I'm playing down LEO fatalities. This was not my intention. Obviously, any death is a tragedy, the death of a LEO even more so.

ok then...

...howabout instead of "my rights were violated" I'll call it...had a police issue posted to my head while backup arrived and while trying to inquire as to why I was being held got called every name you could think of including "If you don't shut the eff up I'm going to blow your effn brains out. Oh and my crime, I was "out too late" as they so eloquently put it. And guess what, THERE IS NO CURFEW IF YOUR A LEGAL ADULT, which I am.

So to tie this in w/the original post, cops can pretty much do anything they want, including making new laws for the purpose of harrasment.

And as I stated, anyone who dissagrees has most likely never been in a situation like this (mabey you have, I don't know). Lets try some roll reversal and mabey your tune will change.

I don't care one lick whether you feel bad for me or not, so you can :barf: :barf: :barf:    all you want. I gave a realworld response to a very realworld question sighting a realworld example.

Just a side thought, isn't it a given that cops care about peoples rights being violated? You're supposed to be the good guys right?

MPD223 Aww,,,poor Last Stand. I feel so bad for you
Why?

He's not the one that's going to cause me (and millions of other upright citizens) to rethink how they vote for safety levies.

If you want to feel sorry for anyone, feel sorry for the decent cops that will have to suffer though with outdated equipment, lower pay and reduced benefits.

Side note - Is it just me or does there seem to be a bit of "citizen bashing" going on in this thread...

fine by me

I'm willing to let bygones be bygones.

What happened was in the past so it's over, and I do reallize that not all cops are like that. My only beefs are the assumption that I was most likely doing something wrong to end up in a situation like that, when as I explained I wasn't. Or the unwaivering belief by some that cops don't break the law, when we all know that some of them do.

When people who identify themselves as police mock real situations (i.e. aww, boo hoo, :barf: ), how is a regular joe supposed to feel about other cops?

Anyway, I won't waste anymore time. As I said I was just trying to add pertinent info to the topic.

I figure law enforcement agent's drinking behavior

fits the bell curve just like the rest of the population. Most of the law enforcement officers I've met have been very professional. Only a few were discourteous, belligerent, or otherwise unreasonable.
